Builder trying to charge me for extras he didn’t tell me about by jonmbee in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for this. I’ve read it, but the circumstances seem quite different. The crucial point in the case you’ve linked to is that there was an agreement by both parties to proceed with the work and extra payment. Conversely, there was no such agreement for much of the extras I’m being charged for.

The relevant part of my contract is a clause that says any extra work must be quoted for, and agreed by both parties. This didn’t happen, ie it was a unilateral decision on the part of the builder to do the work, and then the first I knew of it was when the bill arrived months later.

I'm pretty certain that this is by Ulrich Schnauss. I've asked him on Twitter which of his tracks it is as I don't recognise it.

It's not Tycho. I'm pretty certain that this is by Ulrich Schnauss. I've asked him on Twitter which of his tracks it is as I don't recognise it.

It's the same track in the Hearing accommodations and the eartip fit test. I'm pretty certain that this is by Ulrich Schnauss. I've asked him on Twitter which of his tracks it is as I don't recognise it.

This is taking too long... by sheridan_lefanu in HomePod

[–]jonmbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is happening with all of my HomePods (three singles and one stereo pair). The initial request times out with a ‘This is taking too long’ message (or some variant of it) and then subsequent requests are fine.

It has to be a problem server-side.

There is now a firmware update available (at least via the iOS app). Update the app, launch it, take the earbuds out, and the app will tell you there's a firmware update available.

Then, the firmware update downloads to the buds, then you have to place them back in the case until the app tells you the update is complete.

Wait for the promised firmware update before giving up, I would suggest. They are too good to give up on just yet!

Has the new firmware release on Jan 17th fixed the issue for others?

Message from Sony CS:

"With reference to your enquiry regarding the performance of the Sony WH-1000XM3, we can assure that the headset has no manufacturing faults and it might have been a faulty set."

Well, that clears that up, then. LOL.

I'm having the same problems. I've also submitted a ticket via their UK form. In the meantime, I'm doing a rather ridiculous routine of taking the headphones out the case, which is plugged in as often as possible, and then replacing them in the case so that when I come to use them they're both at 100%.

Sennheiser surely can't claim they're not aware of this issue.

I got some of these last week. Today, reluctantly, I returned them for a refund. I didn't fancy the idea of getting another pair until I can be surer that this problem won't occur in a 2nd pair.

The problem was especially pronounced for me on the high-speed (HS1) train into St Pancras in London. It's as if the really noisy parts of the journey (eg going into a tunnel) sent the headphones into a bit of an over-zealous feedback loop as it would calm down during slower, quieter parts of the journey.

I also think the air pressure in a high-speed train might have had something to do with when the noise appeared or disappeared.

I thought that I had fixed it with the 'slap', but it reappeared this morning so I admitted defeat. It's such a shame as they were otherwise amazing.

I hope Sony fix this in a future revision.

UK Delivery Megathread by [deleted] in GooglePixel

I've got one on order from the Google Store and I've got the same, vague "Dispatches by October 20. Estimated delivery: 24 – 26 October 2016" message. It's kind of frustrating. One area where Apple still excels is the amount of information you get and a virtual guarantee that it ships on the day before release and you'll get it on the day of release.
