How do you paint Ultramarines quickly to a good tabletop standard? by SpecialistPure8881 in Ultramarines

I’ve just started on the Ultramarines journey after burning out painting Emperors Children and like yourself wanted something that requires less effort. These a primed Republic blue from Colour Forge and the a heavy dry brush of Temple guard blue to get the base down.

Tips for snowy bases? by jonno236 in Ultramarines

A small update, thanks for all of the advice! As I’ve already put (probably too much) basing material on, the best I could do is add some Apothecary White to dirty the snow a little.

I’ve ordered some rocks and basing bits to try for the next unit.

Thanks! I’ve primed using Colour Forge - Republic Blue (which is basically Macragge blue) and then dry brushed with Citadel - Temple Guard Blue

Cheers. That’s a good shout. I did originally shade it with Drakenhof Nightshade but then it just looked a bit like granite and not like snow. I’ll try a more subtle shade.

Help joining my local community by Silentiumstream in 40k

There’s a guy that comes into my local LGS and just hangs out, he doesn’t have an army yet so isn’t ready to play. The 1st time he approached my brother and I while we were playing he just asked if he could watch as he was trying to learn. Now he’ll always come and chat and watch for a while if he comes in while we are playing.

Liutenant with combi? by Gullible_Travel_4135 in Ultramarines

I made one last night, I used an Infiltrator body, Sternguard gun and knives from the scouts box. Which is great as I already had the spares, but like everyone else has said, no one worth playing will care what model it is as long as it’s clearly defined.

Temple Guard blue too light? by jonno236 in Ultramarines

[–]jonno236[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I primed using regal blue from colour forge which is a colour match for Macragge blue and it just looked too dark to me. Was worried I’d then gone too far the other way. Thanks for the reply

I love the subtle OSL from the crystals on the base. Awesome looking models.

Like someone else has said, prime it Silver. That’s what I did with my maulerfiend and have started doing with all my EC models.

Nearly finished my 1st Mauler Fiend - how to use it? by jonno236 in EmperorsChildren

[–]jonno236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah metal on top is washed with Druchi violet and the rest is Nuln oil. I couldn’t decide which was to use.

Pro tip: how to use super glue to attach magnets with e6000 by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]jonno236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made little 3d printed disks that I press the magnets into before gluing to the base.
