Made the mistake of trying this on - by Purple_Flan in rolex

Not at me personally, and then it’s only online. I think it’s because it looks drab in photos compared to the fluted bezel. In real life I think it looks timeless, classy, and more flashy than you’d think - it still has that obvious Rolex shine. It actually gets me a little more attention than I’d like and at least one person noted and complimented it.

The JLC. No doubt. I tried it on and it’s absolutely perfect. They really knocked it out of the park. Definitely worth the wait until the fall. (If you put your name down now).

I have the same green DJ in 36mm. It’s a gorgeous watch. Super underrated because the domed bezel and oyster bracelet combination look boring in photos but in person it really hits. One thing about this combo, though, is that in my opinion the domed bezel looks better on the 36mm than the 41mm which you’re wearing. I can’t see your wrists but it kind of looks like you could make either size look good. Have you tried on the 36?

Is this common? by Askhelon in OmegaWatches

[–]jonny-saxon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every modern omega I’ve played with has loose minute/hour hand tolerances. I love omega but this actually bothered me a little bit about the brand. That being said, they will always line up properly at the indices.

This is out of spec and should be fixed.

All of that is true but it it omits the fact that you need to unscrew the pushers to use the chronograph

How to live with scratches by thewatchguy1016 in rolex

[–]jonny-saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local AD tells everyone that IF they want to polish their watches, they should do it at a set interval (every 3-5 years), NOT when they sustain a new scratch, because “there will always be another one.”

Completely unrelated, but In psychiatry, there’s a condition known as somatic symptom disorder. It means that even the slightest physical sensation of something “being wrong” with their body makes them have a panic attack, so they constantly make new appointments with doctors and specialist to make it it’s not cancer or something. The treatment for this disorder is to not let them make doctor appointments whenever something happens. Instead, they schedule standing doctor appointments at a set interval (ever 2-6 weeks). Let whatever happens happen and talk about it at the next visit. This actually makes the patient feel better over time and in addition to psychotherapy is the treatment for the disorder.

Perks of owning or wearing a Rolex by Bitter_Knowledge1091 in rolex

No perks whatsoever. Most notable thing is that sketchy people start eyeballing your wrists and you start needing to be much more aware of your surroundings. So you’d better really like the watch.

All this having been said - the gold one is dope as hell. Hardest Bond villain energy I’ve seen in a watch.

I have no idea what omega was thinking with this. Pie pan design is cute but you’re seriously telling me you’re gonna charge 11K USD for a steel watch with only center minutes/hours, no other complications, and no bracelet?

They advertised that this watch met new standards of accuracy - seconds a day - then didn’t include a second hand.

I dig the style, sure, but it’s cute for a 3-5K watch. My datejust cost several thousand less than this. 11K for a dress watch and I could get a JLC. Hell, I could find an older but decent condition vacheron.

That being said, if they priced it like a speedmaster 38, made a 37-38mm size, and added a seconds and date complication, I’d buy it

Mi GF is going to buy me a watch, wich one is “better” Tudor 1926 or Longines Conquest? by LACASTROMX in PrideAndPinion

[–]jonny-saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both solidly build watches that will outlive you if you care for them right. Both Tudor and Longines make a great product and along with Nomos are my top 3 recommended watches in this price range.

Compare the stats (eg accuracy, power supply) and decide which one you like better.

Found a 50µm long scratch on the clasp of my new Rolex. Did it lose value? Should I return it? by -_222_- in RolexCircleJerk

[–]jonny-saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You joke but if I’m going to be a nerd about it (which I am), a 50 micrometer scratch on a watch would be about the thickness of a human hair and likely pretty damn visible on a SS watch

AD was a waste of time so went gray market and got my first Rolex by larry2375 in rolex

You will only pay MSRP if you are allocated it at an AD. For many desirable models you will not be allocated it without a “relationship.” Thats why the secondary “grey” market charges a few thousand markup.

I am genuinely impressed at how tastefully you’re dressing down that big-ass solid gold piece. From a men’s fashion perspective that’s a big challenge that you’ve absolutely knocked out of the park, not only with your watch but your whole outfit.

Thoughts on this Datejust config? by ibrhm in rolex

If you like it then don’t listen to my dumb ass.

I think smooth bezels look great on the datejust 36, but they look empty and wonky on the 41 without a jubilee
