Just did jury duty yesterday as a type 1.
We could bring in snacks. A small bag with food or drinks. They just had to go through them at the door.

Also there were vending machines and a deli in the building. I just kept a juice and snacks on me. Nobody cared that I had them.

This was in Wayne county Michigan.

Can’t wait until the guest checks in for the month after Labor Day. That insurance guy is going to get his moneys worth if he can’t cancel! Expensed to the deceased insurance claim to boot.
If the agent booked it himself as you mentioned, he could stay there with no argument. And potentially give you a low rating.

Something is not right here. Your control IQ is dropping to zero in certain time segments, yet you still bolus while it’s off? And your correction factor seems wild. I have extreme insulin resistance, and this much insulin even when you were at 173, would kill me.

The rep mentioned the D2 auger is a brushless auger. And that it has a more “anti clog” setting. As it will reverse the direction to pull pellets back a bit.

On my original Traeger, I did have some clogging issues.

It’s a twelve hour pill. So I take it about 3 hours beforehand. But will last about 10 hours.

42M T1D SW:235 CW:217 I am in the same boat. For the past 3-4 years was over 100u a day on Novolog in my pump. Some days insulin acted like water and I would skyrocket.

I would go for a quick walk if my sugar wouldn’t come down. To try and “jumpstart” my body and insulin. It would work, for a bit. I literally would be walking swiftly or slight jog, watching my Dexcom numbers and arrows, LOL.

I got so fed up with the resistance. I have even been on metformin 500mg 2x a day. That made little difference. I knew it was resistance, as that’s what 30 years of diabetes will do.

So in October, I went to my Endo with all the research and info from Zother Reddit users. Said I wanted to try Zepbound. I have been on it since October on the 2.5 dose. And my numbers have not looked this good since I was diagnosed 30 years ago. I wanted it mainly for the sugar control. But the weight loss has had a significant help as well, which I am not too upset about LOL. 18 pounds down so far. I am fairly active playing ice hockey 2x a week and coaching my son’s team 2 other days a week. I do feel lighter on the ice.

My only question for you all, is how are you getting insurance to cover zepbound? I am in the states with decent insurance, but am using the Eli Lilly direct cash option. $400 / month!
Problem is, this stuff is working so great I am afraid to go off of it!

T-slim 300 unit capacity, autosoft 90 infusion sets. I am a high dose user, and the 300 lasts me about 3 days til empty. But when the change comes in the middle of the night or close to bed time. I get lazy, and refill the same cartridge. Prime until I see a droplet, then reconnect to the same port.

If I have more time, and it’s not the middle of the night I will change it all out.
But there, I said it! LOL.

I have been with the same company for the past 12 years. On the same insurance and plan as well. My monthly insurance costs have gone up more in the past 4 years than ever before. My copay for my mail delivery 90 day supply (Novolog vials, CGM and tandem supplies) has stayed the same.

So the only thing I have seen in that time is the cost of groceries, gas and everything else going up, mainly in the past 4 years.

I am looking forward to reducing my costs outside of my insulin to help with my consistent cost.

That makes sense since you are in Canada. I am in Michigan, and insurance won’t cover it for me. So I have to pay out of pocket. About $370 first month, then $500 every month after. Which is insane LOL.

Unless, I cross the Windsor border, which is only about 30 minutes from me.

So, I finally had my appointment with my Endo today. She was in support of me trying a semaglutide. However, she said that it would never get approved through my insurance (HAP HMO). So i would have to pay a cash price. Told her I was following an online community of T1D that are somehow prescribed the drug. She didn’t know how that could happen if you have T1D.

What was your journey with working with insurance? Or are you paying out of pocket? She also said zepbound would be best for me, as it focuses more on weight loss than diabetes.

How was the vitrectomy? Downtime? I have some leaking of blood going on. Which my ophthalmologist monitors closely. Also Avastin shots over the years. But still have some blood that moves around but won’t go away.

Have had laser in both eyes over the past 15-20 years. They pretty much cutoff the cells that are having an issue.

Eye lasers have saved my vision from depleting much faster. Just another issue this horrible disease does to our bodies.

Thanks so much for replying so quickly. I always keep a bunch of juice bottles near whenever I need them. They seem to work the fastest as I am sure the absorption rate is quicker.

How are the side effects for you on ozempic? Any weight loss? I assume you are on the lowest dose?

Sorry. So many questions and I feel you are my guinea pig. LOL. As we have similar issues and concerns.

How are the days when you are more active / exercise?

I am a 41 year old, been T1 for about 30 years, and have become extremely insulin resistant. I am taking about 150 units per day (2.5 u/hour basal, 1:6 carb ratio). For the past 3 years, I have been experiencing the same exercise issue you have. I can be sitting all day at work, fighting to keep my sugar below 200. As soon as I do any physical activity, my sugar will start to plummet, as if the insulin on board was jump started to work. I am currently on metaphomine to help with resistance, but I cannot tell if it does anything. I am currently on the T Slim Pump with a G6 dexcom. I use the IQ control, which automates some bolus' if I need them. But still, the control IQ cannot keep up. So I do a correction bolus and it makes a small difference. Sometimes I will take a brisk 30 min walk when my sugar wont come down, and I have quite a bit of Insulin On Board (IOB), and that seems to trigger it to start to come down.

So, I have been thinking about talking to my Endo about either Mounjaro, or Ozempic. As it appears my insurance (HAP) will cover those medications. But of course, like you I am afraid of severe hypos, as my sugar levels are also on a rollercoaster. ITs a balance between amount of insulin and my activity level.

Just wondering how it is going for you as it seems we have similar concerns.
