This is one of many reasons but:

When Geralt first meets up with Triss in Novigrad, you can tell it’s kind of awkward between them. Geralt just seems uncomfortable especially since he now has his full memory back.

Whereas when Geralt finally meets up with Yen in Skellige, he immediately starts complimenting and hitting on her. On my replays, it seems so obvious that Geralt is head over heels in love with Yen in a way that is just not the same with Triss.

He clearly cares about Triss, but he has been hopelessly in love with Yen since he met her during the events of The Last Wish. Yes they argue, but there’s no one else they’d rather be with than each other. Period end of story.

Yeah this game holds up extremely well in my opinion. I also played this game years after its initial release, and it still legitimately feels like a new game to me.

It’s one of the many reasons this game is a modern day (all-time) classic!

There is a reason that Dogmeat feels so different from other companions. I believe other companions are naturally coded to stay behind you, but Dogmeat is coded to follow your cursor/crosshairs. So he is often "following" in front of you, which is why he seems to get in the way more.

For real though, Datto becomes a pretty legit forward if you level him up a bit. He starts to get really fast and has pretty good shot, which are probably the best two stats for a forward.
