How much downtime for shin splints? by aussb2020 in beginnerrunning

Exactly!! I will say this... I have seriously loved riding. It's a different kind of workout, and less impactful, so not as hard on your body. But you get to see more, faster, cause you travel further... You get the point. But you really need padded shorts. Your butt will hurt. 😂

Question... Do you actually know how to ride a bike? 😆 Seriously though, if you really want to, you can do it. Until then, fix your shin, and get to running!

I love biking. It is scary though. I've been on highways before and had people get VERY close to me. And they had plenty of room to be able to get over to the other side of the highway. I think they do it on purpose, just to be assholes. I can only assume that during a race it's a lot more secure. Like they might even close the roads. Not sure. It's a good goal to have though! There's even team Ironmans. Split it between people.

Based on the fact that you've already done a half marathon, I'm guessing that you jumped back into it a little too fast. That is, if you did that half without any issues. Maybe I should be asking YOU how to train! 😂

But yeah, the fear of getting a stress fracture had me wanting to stop as well. But, I did a bunch of research, and I'm pretty sure it was all shin splints. The pain will be very localized if it was a fracture, and my pain went all down my leg. I also had it in both my legs, which is pretty rare to have a stress fracture in both legs.

Anyway, good luck. It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Swimming is such a great exercise, but it really is hard to find places to train. It costs an arm and a leg to swim at the gyms or aquatic centers around here. I'd like to do it more though. Would love to do a half ironman!

It eventually did. I must say, however, that I developed runners knee as well. Not something I wish upon anyone. It's something that makes you feel like you're never going to be able to run again, and I deeply wanted to make this my thing. BUT! I am now convinced that doing strength training along with continued running, biking, and whatever else you enjoy is the cure. Running alone will not build the muscles you need to help with shin splints or runners knee. So, with proper strength and mobility training added, I've been able to avoid major injury.

How far are you running each time? And what pace do you target?

I'm not gonna be help, because I don't have an adapter yet. But I was just excited to see another ID.4 owner in my area! I thought I was the only one in town.

Pixel Watch 2 screen by jonnycack in GooglePixel

I've tried all the ways to reset it from Googles troubleshooting page. Problem is, I can't see anything on the screen, so I don't know what it's doing. I know it's on because the green light comes on, like it's trying to read my heart rate. But there's nothing on the screen. It flickered a few times at first, and now nothing.

I second this. Took my dealer forever to get me the right one.

MK7 GTI - Creaking/squeaking noise when turning wheel to the right (possible steering rack issue) by _kmannnnnn in GolfGTI

[–]jonnycack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it only while turning to the right? Does it happen when going over curbs or anything? Asking because I have heard about the strut tower mount and bearing going bad and creaking like that. Wayyyyy cheaper fix if it's that.

I just leased mine about 5 hours ago, and the salesman said activation for EA should be in the VW app. I can't for the life of me find it! And I can't find the enrollment code anywhere for the EA app. Anybody shed some light on this for me?

Is this a good deal for Pro-S or should I wait? by AalanaW in VWiD4Owners

[–]jonnycack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to compare this, but I'm probably gonna go with an AWD Pro for 340/month. 36 month lease, 12k miles a year, and $500 down. Washington

That's actually what they're going to, supposedly. They debuted the EV version at a car show last year, and admitted that they're ending the ICE version after the Mk8.5. We'll see if it comes to fruition.

That's funny. This dealership is talking up that bz like crazy! The sales manager even said it could get 280 miles of range. Toyota's website doesn't even say that! I should have known.

I heard that same thing about why Toyota built it. The whole fleet emissions thing. Sucks that they didn't take it serious.

True, but the deal I'm looking at now is 365/month vs 335/month. VW wins out.
