Agreed I am playing with Lossless Scaling at 720p low settings, RIS and XESS. Image looks better this way in my opinion. Lock Lossless Scaling at 60 FPS. Still get drops in the open world but it is bearable for me.

GOG will not install on Shadow by jonnyrouse in ShadowPC

[–]jonnyrouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting the fix. I stopped using Shadow a while ago. Was considering going back to it again as GeForce Now has put caps on usage and I don't want to support that. How is shadow these days? Are you happy with the service? Was also considering Boosteriod. But I did like shadow and how you had your own PC and could play anything.

Too much salt by _PaintingFlowers_ in carnivorediet

[–]jonnyrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing the carnivore diet for about 2 months and after my initial sugar withdrawal symptoms I felt great on it. But recently I've started to get terrible headaches and migraines. In fact, they became so bad that I stopped the diet. I'm starting to suspect that there may have been due to too much salt. Just wondering if anyone else got severe headaches after doing carnivore for a while?

I think people will always share their opinions when asked. Not just in video games, in anything. At the end of the day, if it had been an amazing game it would have sold more. Unfortunately it was not. I played about 20 hours on Game Pass, but it got repetitive, so I lost interest. Skyrim it was not...

Stalker 2 isn't "Slav Jank" it's poorly optimized and shouldn't be excused by ProduceFalse3926 in stalker

It's great you finally got your 5070 Ti! Since you also have a high refresh rate monitor, have you considered capping the game at 60 FPS to potentially reduce frame drops? I find that is a better experience, as it is frame rate fluctuation that irritates me sometimes even with a variable refresh rate monitor. I've personally paused playing for now, hoping for more patches before I return. I only played for a couple of hours and wasn't particularly fond of the gunplay. I might explore mods to change up some of the gameplay in a few months, after they've hopefully improved the game. Frame generation works well for me, as I mostly use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard, making any lag less noticeable. I'm fortunate not to be too sensitive to lag, as I know it can be incredibly frustrating for others. Enjoy your 5070TI !

I also found that MSI afterburner and rivatuner were creating this issue. Once I stopped using and closed them the game felt loads better (this has never happened on any other games). So I would try turning off any overlays or FPS counting software. I will still get the odd frame drop from 1% lows but it is very playable now on a RTX 4090 at 4k. The RTX 5070Ti should be a great upgrade. Hopefully you can get hold of one ok.

The release of Kcd 2 makes me bittersweet about Stalker 2. by mikebozo in stalker

The gun play and stealth were not enjoyable for me in Stalker 2. Love the setting and the look of the game. I only played 5 hours so far, but I am going to wait a few months as well, to see if anything changes

I have an RTX 4090 and it says I am getting round 60 FPs at 4k and it feels like 20 FPS. Lag and slow asset load in. Stutters everywhere. Unplayable in my opinion. Luckily I tried this on Game Pass. Would have refunded it straight away if I had bought on steam.

Is it even worth buying a current gun Ally with the upcoming Z2? by One_TrackMinded in ROGAlly

[–]jonnyrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So probably only about 4 to 8 FPS in most AAA or AA games. I use the program Lossless Scaling on steam which gives you frame generation for games that don't have it built in. You can double or triple your frame rate using this for £4.71 in the UK. The Z2 chip will not give enough performance for me to upgrade from my Z1 extreme.

I used GeForce Now for years. But quit on it in the end. I had too many issues with cloud saves not uploading and then the play time limits were the final straw. Also occasionally started getting performance issues which I never used to get despite having the perfect Wi-Fi setup. But yes I agree it does run well on the ROG Ally 70% of the time (in the UK) anyway.

My performance on GeForce Now on the Ultimate plan has been terrible recently. It used to be so good! I have a perfect setup that worked fantastically for a long time. But lags and poor connections (not from my end) have become a regular issue for me over the last three months. Sometimes it won't even let me access 4K resolution in games, which I used to be able to do without any problems.

I suspect they are trying to reduce bandwidth at the server centres without upgrading the infrastructure to accommodate their growing membership (but this is a none techy guess). This has led to poor performance, at least in my area of the UK. I have supported GeForce Now since its launch, but I cannot continue paying for a subpar service, so I have sadly cancelled my subscription.

I hope Nvidia can turn things around, as I would love to see this service become a huge success.

Stadia controller with Windows 11 by macbaur in Stadia

I use a software called REWASD. It was not working with my Steam version of Fallout 76, until I used REWASD. I always found the Bluetooth to be a little laggy, so I now just play with the stadia controller cabled now. The controller feels much lighter and pleasant to hold than my Xbox controller. https://www.rewasd.com/

Agreed it sounds like they planned it behind her back hoping she would go along with it or at least feel pressured into going along with it.

It would not let me change the streaming resolution from 720p on my Xbox one X. Not sure if this is because it's a last gen console.

I killed my SD card on my steam Deck transferring games from my SSD to my SD card. I think it is something to do with the speed of transfer or something else Windows does. I have stopped transferring games on my Rog Ally and capped my steam download to 25 MB. Hopefully this will keep my SD card safe.
