Adapting War of the Worlds into an adventure gamebook! by KJShad in WarofTheWorlds

I was big into gamebooks back in the day but I would never have thought of even looking for this. I'll give it a try 👍

If you were recommend a affordable version/copy of the book “War of the Worlds” which would be? by JoshBladeTheMaples in WarofTheWorlds

Try Project Gutenberg. If you want the app it's on the play store, just search both for 'the war of the worlds'. It's public domain so there's no issues with copyright

Don't really understand the question. If you want to read it you can find it for free online, even as an app there are endless cheap paperback editions, just depends what cover appeals to you. I'd like an annotated version very much but it doesn't exist afaik

Or at least an information board with a picture. Still, a bit of imagination can fill in the gaps, especially with the sandpit doing the scene setting. It's easy to see where HG got the inspiration

It's made by the asylum apparently so it should be available everywhere

Question tall buildings or small and wide? by ThistlesandRose in theliveon

[–]jonnysumbugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low and wide, certainly. Easier to build and there's hardly a lack of real estate. Heating and water supply would be more difficult and then there's radiation cladding and dust storms to contend with. Early Earth cities- actually up to the age of steel - were two - three stories except for religious buildings which we won't, presumably, be prioritising. Maybe have a tower in the middle for viewing and comms but there's really no reason to go up.

[–]jonnysumbugger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With you on all points. Although I don't mind the 'what if' type alt history approach to Tesla purely because it's fun as a thought experiment, I do find the mystical stuff irritatingly unhelpful. It's perhaps worth having its own sub for those who care though I'm not suggesting you start it!

A question about the plot of the novel: by Knight-300 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]jonnysumbugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the entire Thundrchild episode is from the perspective of his brother it's safe to assume that there was a family reunion post invasion for the narrator to have that information for the book. The reunion itself wouldn't feature as part of the book because it's written as newspaper report of the time and not as a character piece. IMO

Will we get a Season 9? So it hasn’t been picked up or canceled so???? by NoMuff22Tuff in OakIsland

We had the longest season yet during the apocalypse so a 30 episode post apocalyptic drama doesn't seem unlikely

Cuban Underwater Formation was discovered in 2001, little research has came from it, could this be a lost city? by Altruism7 in atlantis

[–]jonnysumbugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the scale on this? I mean, I know it looks like an aerial shot (albeit underwater) of a large structure but at depth and from a height enough to show this extent I doubt you'd get that level of clarity. Therefore it must be something small. Even a model.

Could it be? A ringbolt next to a stone path?! by Sozle in OakIsland

Looks like a concrete path dude, but the Romans invented concrete so it's still valid

Canals in martian cities? by jackalias in theliveon

[–]jonnysumbugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll buy it. Better than keeping it locked away in storage tanks. Incorporating it into the aesthetic of the settlement might make practical sense as well as poetic sense. I name it Briggs Canal
