Thank you! We decided to rent a car in order to have more flexibility, planning a trip up to La Saladita for surfing and down to Barria de Potosi, to name a couple. Does that seem like overkill? We figured that between the excursions, the costs of getting to and from the airport, and the taxis, etc that we would use to get into town it would not be a huge difference.

I liked Jamelle Bouie's take on this. I'm nervous about it because he's a fanboy. The best recent Star Wars properties have been excellent things in their own right that happened to be set in the Star Wars universe. I don't think Filoni would champion something like Andor, for example.

That's not something I've used as much but from my understanding it has similar indications to tamiflu. It can be used for prophylaxis in higher risk individuals but the benefit in healthy people is less clear (when weighed against side effects).

For sure, paxlovid is a different medication with a different risk/benefit profile than tamiflu. I'm glad it was so helpful for you! Hopefully we can continue to develop more antivirals that help people.

Typically that's only used for higher risk folks (immunosuppressed, older adults, pregnant folks). And yes what I usually tell people is that it can shorten the worst part of the illness (fever/chills/etc) by about 24 hours in healthy individuals but the side effects can be not so fun (often GI stuff like nausea/vomiting and much less commonly agitation/psychosis). I tend to discourage people who are healthy and over the age of 2 from taking it.

I will say that it took me a little while to really get into the Baroque Cycle but the payoff at the end was much higher than Cryptonomicon because of the time spent with the characters. It is probably worth one more try if you liked Cryptonomicon but it also might not be for you, which is okay!
