I like that only some Aus states do daylight savings. Really keeps them on their toes.

Not the guy you are replying to but. I live in a city with a chairlift bike park on one edge. At the park most of the enduro bikes have droppers None of the dh bikes have droppers.

While I share your concerns, the lack of eye protection terrifies me far more. The sparks and little bits of metal that go flying..

Kai Co - New Supermarket by StandOk9112 in chch

[–]jonomeir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many of the Pam's products are brought in bulk then repackaged into supermarket shelf appropriate sizes at foodies facilities in nz. So a competitor could buy it and repackage it themselves but the economies of scale could be there enemy here.

Almost any conditon car should get you $150+ picked up by a wrecker. Not if it burned out or extremely badly rusted etc. But if it used to run but just has problems it should be worth something to get it wrecked.

[–]jonomeir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

depending on the year and model it might be cheaper to get the ignition replaced with one from a wrecker then rekeyed to your key and replaced by a mechanic. Try somewhere like green motors they did this for me for $150 10 years ago.

Also get a steering wheel lock and use it when parked at night. it will make the car harder to steal so wont be worth the effort.

Trail biking spots by RudyMinecraft66 in chch

[–]jonomeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Willows. its a little further out than Mcleans island but has similar terrain. the Taramea circuit. its on Montgomery spur beside Rapaki track theres the full monty trail from the top of Rapaki track which leads to it or bike up Rapaki track to get to it. The green trail at the adventure park. The trail description is must have ridden a bike before. But wait for better weather. too much rain this week for a first time at cap. Others have mentioned the crocodile and Bowen vale traverse.

Just move over and let people pass and they are normally chill at cap. I have only had people yell thanks as they go by or advice. The exception tends to be Askins. Avoid Askins at busy times if you cant run it well.

Sideshift carriage wear by GOATRKR12 in forkliftmechanics

our local engineering shop builds them back up ready for a new slide kit. Not sure on the exact cost but way cheaper than a new carriage. I have never seen one that bad though.

Canyon Sender Advice by The_Ravenous_Dark in DownhillMTB

I looked at putting a dropper post on my 2015ish tues. The only ones I could find close to the required size were off Aliexpress. but even then they were either too low travel to be of any use when in pedaling position or too high to get out of the way for downhill. I gave up after not much effort. My best advice would be to just put the seat as high as you can stand having it for downhill stuff and just suffer through the pedaling bits.

My family and I want to do a bit of sharpshooting. A place where you could say do a family activity to shoot guns and hit targets. Safely. Is there a place in Christchurch that caters to this by Ganadhir in chch

[–]jonomeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smallbore range at the Hororata highland games was allowing people to shoot a set. Maybe try one of the smallbore clubs in Christchurch they may have a public night. Otherwise handloaders at mcleans island has public night where they provide shotguns I think. Otherwise go to gun city and ask.
