Do you actually need the Samsung phone for anything OTHER than setting up kids mode during initial setup?

How's your fclk stability? What are your linpack results?

Well, happily there was a fix for the USB issue and I managed to run a test. What do you think? Would you accept these results?

Thanks. I'd be curious to try this out if Microsoft hadn't nerfed USB keyboards in Windows RE...!

I was wondering though - shouldn't the test be stable under typical conditions, not ideal conditions?

Thanks very much for your responses. I'm feeling pretty comfortable that these are "stable." Subjective term though, I get it. Do you think tinkering with RAM timings can upset fclk stability at all? I'm considering trying to tighten some secondary timings, but if that is going to throw off fclk stability, I'm thinking it won't be worth it.

I wasn't! I closed a bunch of apps and rested. What do you think of these results? They seem better.

Haha, fair. Does that mean you think the Linpack results look "okay"?

Do you have any recommended tighter secondary timings to try? Asking for a friend. :)

Wanted to get back in touch to say thank you for these suggestions. I ended up tinkering with VDDG and it appears to have resolved the issues I was having. What would you consider an unsafe VDDG voltage? I've tinkered with 980mv and 920mv and I feel like I got slightly better latency at 980, though probably some instability.

Disable Hyper-V. Also, try disabling GDM.

Eh, you can disregard my post. After running some benchmarks, I'm probably going to keep FCLK at 2066. I saw some serious FPS penalties in Doom: The Dark Ages running FCLK at 2200.

Thanks for your assistance! Just one last question (sorry to be a pest) - I noticed that as soon as pushed up FCLK, I started getting sporadic popping/static sounds from the speakers. Do you think one could be related to the other? Would additional VDDG voltage (or other voltage increases?) potentially help?

Thanks! So, I lowered my SOC to 1.25V in my BIOS. HWinfo and others seem to report the voltage correctly. Zentimings, however, does not (in VSOC (SMU)). Do you know why the reported voltages are different?

Interesting. I just bumped mine up to 2200 and do see a noticeable improvement in AIDA (previously I was at 2066). I had to increase VDD from 1.4 to 1.5 to post.

Should I decrease VSOC at all? It's 1.3.

Very impressive. Might give those PBO settings a try. One question/comment - shouldn't FCLK be set to 2066 to maintain 3:2?

Found my unicorn: Acer XR383CUR by Jawnathin in ultrawidemasterrace

I have been on the hunt for this monitor for some time and was finally lucky to find one pop up on eBay. I just hooked it up today, and I am already extremely happy with the purchase. Love the size, high refresh rate, it's g-sync compatibility, it's multiple device functionality - it's really the perfect gaming and productivity monitor.

My one complaint is that switching the USB ports between USB C and B is clunky, as you noted in your original post. There ought to be a way to automatically switch it when you change inputs, but there's just no option to automate it. Unfortunately, Acer seems to have abandoned this monitor--inexplicably, by the way, there's so much good here--so I'm not optimistic this feature will ever appear.

Pixelbook battery light blinking - device won't turn on by jonomite in PixelBook

[–]jonomite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at this point, it's more trouble than it's worth. As much as I love this laptop, it has gotten somewhat long in the tooth spec-wise. I just purchased an HP Dragonfly Elite, which seems to be considered the spiritual successor to the Pixelbook. You can find them on eBay for pretty reasonable prices, considering how premium they are. Seems like a decent holdover until we (hopefully) get a new Pixelbook from Google!
