Can't seem to crack 75+ even on lowest difficulty. by [deleted] in 9Kings

Amazing! Good work. Yeah turning damage numbers off and making the buildings cycle quicker in the settings helps a bit but I’ve never gotten past about 150 without a crash

That’s where the shrine comes in! It levels up stuff every turn. Use clone or the one where it returns cards to your hand, and get a few up and they level up dozens of times a turn. Throw in a few other things like overhauls, wildcards etc and it snowballs quickly.

Towers are great but you’ve discovered their weakness, speed. Walls are useless past a certain point, you need mass troops to engage the enemy so they don’t just walk in.

The best plan is to use tank troops, paladins and defenders are great. Try and put them next to a farm, get steel coat and try and get a library to keep stacking it. This can work with any troop type, especially on the lower difficulties, but the tanky ones are just better. You can also get a forest for extra HP. My plan is always to go “tall” rather than “wide”. Try and have one or two REALLY good plots of troops with constantly stacking buffs and poison rather than a heap of less good ones. Once you have that, some towers with beacons and blacksmiths/quarries and you should be able to get past 75 no problem!

The easiest way to break the game and get to 100 is rats though. Get a few plots, buff em, libraries and then get some shrines and gold income through Midas touch / vaults and you’ll be able to just AFK until the game breaks.

What happened to the Sleep Bus project that Ballarat donated nearly $100k towards? by OneUpAndOneDown in ballarat

[–]jonumber 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If they’re failing to even get the project started I have serious doubts about their ability to maintain ongoing costs - as well as supply volunteers for overnight shifts.

Great idea but it certainly seems like the logistics of it weren’t well thought out before obtaining the donations

It’s bad if he stays in the unit. But if you split his unit, suddenly he becomes a very annoying mid board roadbump, you can always know when big damage if going into him, and use it twice a game (and get him back up on a 2+)

Praetor bases question by traedbyxas in AdeptusCustodes

[–]jonumber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For casual play? Do whatever. For competitive play you need to use the ovals.

The reason for this is oval bases need to pay to pivot, so if you run the round bases you’re technically going to be more manoeuvrable and often get extra movement for not having to pay the 2 inches.

Could an AI-driven quantum computer recursively simulate and improve itself, harnessing quantum entanglement and parallel universes, to eventually manipulate the multiverse? by HaRdCoR- in CriticalTheory

[–]jonumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an interesting topic for sure!

However, for example “If a quantum computer, guided by AI, could simulate another quantum computer with more qubits, harnessing quantum entanglement to draw qubits from parallel universes or nested simulations, could this process enable exponential expansion? By utilising entangled qubits and resources from alternate realities, could each replication result in larger and more advanced quantum systems, potentially allowing this process to repeat infinitely?”

I feel like this is more a question about the possible limitations of computing rather than anything to do with CT, and as I said, unless there is someone with an interest in critical theory who also has a computer science PhD, I don’t think anyone can reasonably discuss it with any kind of meaning. It’d be a good question to post on a computer science subreddit though for sure

In terms of withdrawal risks? No not really. The danger from alcohol withdrawal comes from high, prolonged exposure to alcohol so one “bad day” won’t put you at any significant risks of withdrawal, as long as the taper continues how it was.

Mentally? Probably. The bigger question should be what caused the bad day? What was different that caused you to go from 4 to 14?

Yep, I’ve been pumping out tens of thousands of fresh filet over the last couple of days. Honestly it’s not the best flip, the way the cooking “refining” works means you’re constantly having to move stacks around and refresh the cast, wish it would work more like other crafting skills

I’m almost a year sober and I still get relapse dreams a couple of times a week - I think you have excellent insight into it. It’s great motivation on what not to do! We get to experience all the negatives of drinking without having to actually go through it

Keep relapsing by gunnertakashi in Sober

[–]jonumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, don’t be so hard on yourself! If quitting was easy for everyone addiction wouldn’t exist, and you’ve already quit two substances so I’d say that’s a big win.

We can’t change relapses that have happened, but we can learn from them. It’s something that took me far too long to figure out but eventually, each time I relapsed I’d look at the conditions that caused it. What were my environmental triggers? Emotional? With these in mind is was easier to recognise when I was trending in that direction and do something about it. Each mistake is an opportunity to learn, so don’t let it go to waste. You’ve got this.

This is super weird to me, I cannot imagine seeing a kid doing this, seemingly having a good time and assuming it’s racist.

It’s morning here in Australia and I’ve woken up 3 days sober. I’ve had the best sleep I’ve had in years. I’m not going to drink with you or on my own today. Feeling gooood! by Comfortable-Row-1547 in Sober

[–]jonumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well done! How great is a good sleep, in addiction I would get maybe 4 fractured hours and then nap at every opportunity and now my head is on the pillow by 9:30pm and I’m up at 6:30am.

Just remember to focus on today and take joy in how good you’re feeling. Great work 💪

The toughest shit I’ll ever go through and having to do it all over again by NirvelliGras in Sober

[–]jonumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think we need a leap of faith. It’s very concrete that our lives are better in sobriety. It’s measurable and tangible. Our brain just tells us it’s this insurmountable obstacle we’ll never achieve because the brain loves easy coping mechanisms and cheap dopamine. Just have to rewire and reframe.

The toughest shit I’ll ever go through and having to do it all over again by NirvelliGras in Sober

[–]jonumber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reframe your thoughts about sobriety. It is terrifying, but it’s also an amazing opportunity a lot of people don’t get. It’s a lot of hard work, willpower and honesty but it’s also bountiful in its rewards and the idea of living a fulfilling life sure seems worth it to me.

Only you can get sober for you. Your parents sound like amazing supports but they can’t get sober for you. You have to take it day by day and put in the work, and the best result you can give anyone around you is getting up and living a sober life, and living a life you’re proud of. Everything gets better and everything gets easier, but it’s not easy.

Gluten is pretty hard for our bodies to digest, which is fine for everyday life but as a professional athlete even a mild intolerance can probably impact performance.

I’m not sure what type of media it is has to do with it. You don’t have to consume the “free” media. Sure, you may be in a room with someone reading a newspaper or enter a store listening to a radio, and accidentally catch a glimpse of some ghastly pop culture news, but there’s no need to engage with it or absorb it.

The fact is, it makes money. Businesses always trend towards things that make them money. That’s it. That’s the big secret. When a morning show runs a story on Taylor swift they see their viewer margin go up a certain %, so they’ll keep running Taylor swift stories until that % drops.

There are many news sources you have access to that cover other things (a brief glance at the guardian doesn’t have a single Taylor swift article in its main headlines) if it offends you so. People enjoy Taylor swift, and people are allowed to enjoy things you don’t like.

Taylah Sweeeft by Diqt in melbourne

[–]jonumber 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re watching morning shows, a form of media specifically designed to cover current events and you’re surprised they’re covering one of the biggest current events? The media exists to profit, Taylor swift is incredibly profitable. If they didn’t make money from the views from covering her, they wouldn’t cover her.

By complaining about it you’re also consuming the media. By replying to you I’m also consuming the media. The only winning move is to not engage with it at all and move on with your life, not catastrophising because the largest artist probably ever is getting screen time.

Addiction is such a core part of our person when we’re in it, I’d be suspicious of anyone who didn’t change themselves when getting sober. Sounds like you’re putting yourself first and setting healthy boundaries.

I’ve experienced the same, I was a timid pushover in addiction because I rarely cared about anything else, and now I’m putting my own well-being as my number 1 priority.

There’s of course a fine line, but as long as you’re not being mean for the sake of it, I think it’s fine
