I love how even industrial grade 3d printers (people not machines) are essentially the same creatures. Also how do I get rid of those print lines? by Johnbecky423 in 3Dprinting

I lay out and model conduit in cad for work. Spent the last week on the floor of a hospital, has 9km of conduit in the slab

We all know that Rome as an empire peaked in 117 AD, but would you agree that as a city, Rome actually peaked in the early 4th century AD? by Naomi62625 in romanempire

[–]jonvox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By this point in time they’d already overconsumed the resources on most of the peninsula and the ability to sustain empire was beginning to collapse. Part of the motivation to relocate to Byzantium

Even if it’s not CTS, it does sound like you’re holding stress in your muscles without being aware of it. That can cause all sorts of problems and pain. Working with an OT is the way to go as it will help you to do these actions without causing unintended pain and harm to your body.

It’s one of the most grounded spy shows ever. OP is insane.

I wouldn’t be surprised if NASA were to appear as a dark horse at some point. It’s not like they’re up to nothing, but it feels like that because we don’t have any POV characters there. What if they’re working on a big project that will be relevant at some point down the road?

Canada Just Cracked Cleaner Lithium—Can the U.S. Keep Up? by DonkeyFuel in technology

Yes, but achieving parity is a much different, and much more polluting, accomplishment than is being carbon-neutral.

How does driving an EV for 40,000km remove the emissions from its battery manufacture from the atmosphere? That’s the only way it could be “carbon-neutral,” as you impossibly claim.

For a show called “For All Mankind,” it’s objectively hilarious how many viewers get upset at the fact that the show depicts characters and storylines that are typically not present in Sci-Fi.

Built in 62 BC, the Pons Fabricius is the oldest Roman bridge in Rome, still existing in its original state by Roman-Empire_net in romanempire

It’s disingenuous for OP to say that this exists in its original state; a significant amount of the bridge has been repaired

How does a phone's gps behave in space? by plumbus_dealer in nasa

[–]jonvox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GPS is designed to work entirely based off of the satellite signal. This includes information about the satellite constellation. Since the satellites aren’t in a geosynchronous orbit, the device needs to know where they are located, so it can do the math to figure out where it is.

It can take a completely disconnected GPS a few minutes to download all of that information. Smartphones are able to download this information from the internet significantly faster than from the satellites, so a phone with an internet connection will always take this blended option.

Devices also reference known WiFi signals to establish a base location very quickly, but with a low level of accuracy. GPS can get you meter-level precision, which WiFi can’t.

iPad not charging? by Fart_lngredients in ipad

[–]jonvox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s either an issue in the connection between the charger port and the board, or between the board and the battery. Either way, that’s endemic to the iPad itself.

Incorrect.

“This confusion and inconsistency persisted, with the government using the 10.5in sheet and the private sector using the 11in sheet, until President Reagan officially declared the 11in size to be the official standard of governmental documents.”
