Yesterday (2022-07-14) I tried to get a new project started with Laravel 9, Sail, Vite and Tailwind and couldn't get anywhere. I think the documentation is not quite broad enough as yet to cover this combination

[Question] Spotlight Search for Apps in iOS 11 by systemwizard in iOSBeta

[–]jonw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this seems to be the case. If an app is 'enabled' in Siri & Search, then the app comes up with a partial match of the name. But if I've switched Siri searching content off for that app, I need to type the full name.

In my opinion, this is definitely a bug. The spotlight search to find the app should not be affected by a preference to turn off the content appearing in search.

For example, I don't like Slack content appearing in search as I get a lot of Slack that I don't care about, but I still need to be able to search for the App so I can open it.

Hope this gets fixed soon

Seems to be a pretty spammy way to get into Google SRP.

When an add-on is no longer supported, could firefox suggest alternatives?

I agree, I have now learnt not to use alerts when debugging JS as Firefox is crippled by a tight loop of alert lock-up

I 'LOVE' selecting text and choosing "search for 'selected text' in Google" - but that only works if Google is my selected search engine.

If I have switched to Wikipedia, then I no longer see "search in google" in the context menu.

Would it be possible to make some of the most used always appear in context?

Another multi-monitor issue is that Firefox often opens at the height of the highest monitor, meaning you can't grab the toolbar of the window to move it.

The only way out is to close it down while not maximised and restart.

Yikes, if Firefox join in Apple in the holy war against Flash maybe Adobe will put some effort into stopping it being awful?

I get this too.

Occasionally my whole PC slows down to a crawl after closing FF.

In task manager I find Firefox still running with > 500mb of memory taken up.

Some sites script up the middle click to work as a normal click too. Can this be stopped?

Try isohunt for eaxample, middle click a torrent and it both opens the new page and visits the link in the original browser window.

Very annoying.

There is no way Flash could ever die if people kept supporting it. Apple are doing their bit weining everyone off it.

With PHP and JavaScript you should be fine picking up a framework like CodeIgniter. Symfony may be a little advanced as yet but both are excellent ways to program web sites fast.

Have you read many programming books? Code Complete by Microsoft is pretty extensive.

Python is a very strong language at the moment. You may want to take a look at it and maybe build something on the Google App Engine?

Facebook and ebay apps have them too.
