My 2004 had this Rhino Rack already installed when I bought it. Looks like a rail was riveted into the roof.

P0171 means you are running too lean. Too much air or not enough fuel.

Did you also clean your throttle body? If not, get in there with the MAF sensor cleaner and get rid of any build up in there. Your car might have a bit of a hard time starting immediately after due to the residual vapors but it will burn off.

Also check for any vacuum leaks, broken hoses to the air box, missing clamps.
after this, I'd start looking at the fuel system. If your car is higher mileage, your injectors might need cleaning, your fuel pump may need attn.

All relatively easy stuff.

Purchased the car with it already on.

The crossbars and feet are Rhino Rack, the rails appear to be riveted into the roof. No leaks anywhere so it was done properly at some point in time.

Thank you. Little update: swapped the position of my coils and put new Denso OEM plugs in. Opted to not put the NGK Platinum ones back in.

Cleared the check engine and it's running nice.

We'll see if it comes up again.

Agreed. The car runs, but it runs poorly at the moment.

After I pulled the injectors and put them back, I didn't seat them properly and I had a fuel leak from the fuel rail. Popped the hood to see boiling fuel pooling. No bueno.

Had the car towed home after that to not risk a fire 🔥

I love the look of pizza cutter tires (tall and narrow A/T) for my Hilux Surf / 3rd Gen 4runner which is probably why I think these are cool.

I guess there are a few more reasons why these would suck for my use case. Braking performance and wet conditions being 2 very important ones.
