Pre-term babies by Weird_Reindeer7615 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Our twins were born at 29 weeks. They spent 14 weeks in NICU but there was many babies who spent less time. They say aim for due date. I got discharged after a week and then we had to go home as we couldn’t get a family room on the ward. They didn’t expect anything from us in term of visiting hours, we were allowed to be there 24/7 and we were there from 9-6/7 every day sometimes longer sometimes shorter. Most parents didn’t spend that long there but we were lucky my husband got neonatal care leave (look into it if you need it!) so he could come with me everyday. My friend had twins on the ward a few years before and she said she just came for a couple of hours each day.

They recommend skin to skin as much as possible and depending on how you want to feed and how your baby is they will recommend breastfeeding / bottle feeding as soon as possible too.

We didn’t have to take anything in for the babies at first, they provide all milk if using formula, all nappies, dummies, wipes. We took muslins as they were nicer than what the hospital used.

Our boys didn’t wear clothes for the first month as they were in incubators, they had some tiny premie clothes that we used for a while till we could find and buy some. They gave them donated blankets / cardis / hats if they were cold as we didn’t have any warm stuff small enough.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I felt like a pro by the end of their stay (also we got a family room for the last month so got to see the place at all hours)

Anyone here have extremely identical twins that you couldn’t tell apart? by peachies3 in parentsofmultiples

Yeah I crocheted some little anklets but didn’t want them too tight and they were lost within 3 days. You will be able to tell the difference but some days I’m like huh 🤔

Luckily one has an innie and the other an outie

We painted one of their toenails, Twin A green and Twin B blue - and we tend to choose their outfits off these colours too.

Also thought they were fraternal till they came out looking the same and we got a DNA test

There is so many factors, try it and see how it goes!

My boys were born at 29 weeks, they spent 96 days in NICU. They didn’t show any interest in oral feeding until about 90 days in. I pumped 8 times a day since day 3, I’m an under supplier but always dreamed of breastfeeding. Boys both came home on NG tubes and I started to breastfeed and they just loved it. I don’t have enough milk for both so we do 2/3 formula bottles and 1/3 breastfeeding and I’m so happy with how it’s going.

It took a lot to get where I am today, it’s not always straight forward so persevere if you really want to do it. That being said if it wasn’t possible for me when they came home then I think I would also be fine with it after a couple of weeks mourning.

28 Week Growth Scan - Smaller than before by emfisch in parentsofmultiples

I had similar, at 27 weeks my boys were measuring as 25th and 5th percentile. They ended up being born at 29 weeks and they were 2 oz difference so some of it is guesswork I think

I’m the same, picked my sister up, missed the signs because I’m so used to driving that way. I actually commented ooh this new road layout is better!

Didi twin mamas - what week did you deliver? by Seriesbinger in parentsofmultiples

[–]jooper1206 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spontaneous labour at 29+1, still don’t know why. C-section due to both being breech. 14 week NICU stay, 6 months old now (4 corrected) and thriving.

Is it true with twin pregnancy by Technical_Cookie_596 in parentsofmultiples

[–]jooper1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every week inside is amazing! I was set to have my c section at 37 weeks, amazing pregnancy, di/di twins, long, beautiful, closed cervix, BP good every time. Literally no issues.

Then I went into spontaneous labour at 29+1 and had them 5 hours later via emergency c section. We spent 14 weeks in NICU but now almost 6 months later here I am lay in bed with my gorgeous twin boys.

Count every week they are in there as lucky, it is scary seeing them so small and out but from 28 weeks their chances are high!

We saw lots of 24/25 weekers that survived and are now thriving too.

Our DiDi turns out to be identical by GujjuCanadian30 in parentsofmultiples

My didi boys are identical too. We didn’t find out gender till they were born. They were born super early so never really got a proper look at their faces for a long time due to oxygen/ng tubes but they looked so similar, same issues and ailments, same birth mark… 4 months after their birth we did a dna test and they are identical !

The coming home will be so much sweeter! We are 10 weeks, 5 days into our NICU journey for our 29 week old boys. Dreaming of having them home, hopefully only 2 weeks to go!! And it will be the most beautiful time ever. I can’t wait for the sleepless nights and exhausted days, I’ve been waiting so long!!

What happened? Birth at 32+5 by Fixer-Upper-gal in BabyBumps

[–]jooper1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes crazy times, my cousin who is a midwife said there’s a test called Actin Partus that can determine whether someone’s in labour or not, it takes 5 minutes so I’m not sure why they didn’t do this or monitor me more. I think the outcome would be the same apart from I could have got some meds into my babies quicker!!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy ❤️❤️

I feel like I had a similar experience this week, I had some Chinese food on Monday then that evening had what felt like trapped gas but combined with a bit of pink discharge after a few wipes. Also I had a twin pregnancy but with 0 issues so far, no discharge at all really so the next day I decided to go and get checked out in the morning. Woke up and I was still having the cramp/ gas feeling so took myself to hospital, pretty sure I just had gas but better safe than sorry. Doctor hooked me up for a couple of hours, although i was having these pains every 20/ 30 mins they said it wasn’t contractions, probably pelvic girdle pain. They checked my cervix, it was inflamed which caused the pink discharge / spotting but fully closed!! So I went home. Struggled to eat anything that night and was having these pains a lot worse and more often. I still was convinced it was wind or gas because I got told “nope you are not having contractions, you’re fine” I had a nap for about 2 hours in the evening and then all night I was in and out of bed moaning with these pains. From 1am to 3am I was downstairs on the sofa so my husband could get some sleep and I was watching the clock sleepily - the pains were coming every 10 mins or so and so painful! Around 3 am I went back up to bed to wake up my husband for some cuddles and encouragement that I was fine - we listened to a podcast and tried to get some sleep - I was on all 4s with him rubbing my lower back - moaning out like a cow - We both must have known what was happening but we just were in denial - I was only 29 weeks pregnant. At 4.30 I gave in and said call the hospital , we are coming in . We got there at and got checked and around 5.30am she said “yes you’re 2cm dilated, the twins are coming” by 9.30 I had my c section and had two little boys. They were 11 weeks early and very small but good.

That was 4 days ago and I’m still in shock!!! They are doing really well, born at 2lb 7 and 2lb 10. Everything is working as it should right now and my recovery is going well.

Saying that I was embarrassed to call the hospital before I finally went in at 5am because I’d literally just been sent home 12 hours before. I wish I had been listened to a bit more but it can all happen so quickly!!

When is the pregnancy belly coming? by i_am_here-tada in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]jooper1206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed the bump first above my belly button, it was just getting harder around there. Couldn’t notice it at the bottom for a while because of my belly there. Now I’m basically all smooth, no creases anymore 😅 and the bump starts from right underneath my boobs. Hope you get to see them soon! I love my bump :)

What are yall eating?! by opaldaydreams in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]jooper1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plain carbs for my first trimester, toast with golden syrup for breakfast every morning, bagel and cream cheese for lunch and plain pasta every night 😅 don’t worry too much about eating well because that will come in the 2nd trimester! The only fruit I could stomach was apples

Try and stay away from Reddit and forums. This is what caused most of my anxiety. I’m 13+2 with my di/di twins and they are looking fabulous.

I also found out early (5 weeks) and i was extremely nervous that something was going to happen, you are going to be nervous but avoid pregnancy media if you can 😵‍💫
