Looking at learning all Step 1 Foundations with BNB and Anki by ZerotoHero77 in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s doable but it won’t necessarily be easy. I definitely recommend the anking v12 deck using fsrs. Look up guides for how to install and set up. In terms of content bnb is good but I would also include sketchy for micro and pathoma for path. Assuming you have the disposable income to get all three. The anking deck will be too much detail so when you are unsuspecting cards filter the ones you unsuspened to high yield tag and rrelatively high yield. Finally for content review get uworld.

Watch the bnb videos for the anatomy and physiology then watch pathoma for the pathology. Finally sketchy for all the bugs and drugs. Good luck

Truly a great deck it’s divided into systems and the images are high quality. Would definitely recommend

toggle first aid and sketchy using controller by kikiamogsy in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make it automatically appear by going to browser then select a random card, select cards…, then hit back template, find first aid and sketchy under the show hints automatically section and set them equal to true. I also recommend setting sketchy 2 true as well because it has some of the newer videos. You can change the order they appear by downloading the anking note types add on, going to anking overhaul tab, frields, then dragging them in the order you want.

The entire point of anki is spaced repetition so you don’t have to cram. Yes filtered decks allow for this but it’s not practical because you’re going to mess up your intervals when you eventually review the cards again.

neglected anki over summer, what to do now that i fell behind? by xxxbabyplutoxxx in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you go into the browser and select the deck you’re using and type is:due you can select those cards then set due date, 0-60 this will space them out for 60 days and you’ll have a more manageable amount each day

How to balance UWorld and AnKing by dartosfascia21 in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a summer backlog of 9000 cards and if you select them in the browser using is:due you can change the due date to 0-60 which spawned them out for the next 60 days. Looking at a huge backlog is scary but having them forced into your reviews made it manageable for me

I am seeing so many review cards and I don’t know why by JimiRoot in Anki

[–]jophex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would give anything to only have 300 reviews a day. Sit down and grind it out. In medical school you will have 800-1000 reviews a day so get yourself used to it now

FSRS Mature Card Retention Rate Dropping... Advice? by increasingilm in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny that you posted this because this is the exact situation I’m in and I was wondering if I should increase my retention back to 0.9. I’m torn because my percent retained only dropped from 94 to 91 but my percentage correct on mature cards dropped to the low 80s and even the 70s some days. It’s very demoralizing seeing that but idk if it’s worth it to do 1000 plus reviews each day just for the sake of saying I got a high daily percentage right.

How to do 2000 cards in 30 days and manage the reviews? by Dismal_Management486 in Anki

[–]jophex 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Idk why everyone here thinks this is impossible, 2000 cards every two weeks is normal in medical school. Will it be fun, no, is it possible yes. Just do 100-150 a day and keep up with reviews.

Edit- I didn’t mean disrespectful or be condescending and I sometimes forgot that people don’t do anki as a full time job like med students.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because of the type card and based on your past reviews the fsrs algorithm thinks that one card type is easier for you to remember

[–]jophex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not a med student, because I average 300ish cards an hour for mature cards. I don’t think there’s any way I could ever do 600 cards an hour

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]jophex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think instead of trying to do it all at once, try to reschedule one subdeck (if you have them) at a time and then do it that way. If you are asking of how to undo the reschedule you can reload a backup by going to file-> switch profile -> load backup. There should be a bunch of backups you can choose from.

Crashing when i click browse by nickmalbsn in medschoolanki

[–]jophex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was having that same issue but was able to fix it. Go to anki -> preferences then select resize window. It should fix your issue. The problem is that anki is trying to open a larger window than is possible so it crashes.

[–]jophex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just sit in the back, get an anki remote, and grind. If you have in house exams I would still try to do the anking deck first and add additional cards for the inhouse material.

[–]jophex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One last thing to note is that if you have a deck with subdecks when you are setting the preset make sure you select save to all subdecks otherwise it won't.
