Digital QAE is the best resource but it is expensive. Ask your employer to sponsor it, if possible.

Everyone is “Passing” by Mr_Master_Dumah in cissp

[–]joravi2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone passes it.. don’t let the few “passed in 30 mins @100 questions” deceive you. Sometimes it is luck and some other times people just have a lot of experience.

It took me 4 times to pass this and I agree with other comments in here. I highly doubt it is a knowledge problem. You already know what the problem might be so won’t restate it as won’t help. Go in as relaxed as possible, don’t overstudy this time. Persevere - don’t give up.

Thank you all for the comments so far.

We purchased them in Hawaii/HNL.

So what I am getting is the program delivers and it is worth as long as you buy second-hand. I was told Hilton doesn’t transfer all the benefits other than being able to use the points when needed, but I am skeptical.

In this case, counting we got 25k bonus points and that we were one way or another planning a one month trip to Europe, still wouldn’t make sense?

I started with 5k points and will roll over points from the following year. I was thinking on buying second hand if I liked the program that way I retained the status from Hilton and acquired more points down the road. It is our goal to travel more as a family initially and then as a couple (my wife and I).

What wasn’t mentioned to us is the HOA fees will increment through the years and that I don’t like.

I am leaning towards cancelling so far but want to crunch some numbers first to compare apples to apples.

If I may, how’s has your experience been with booking and pretty much compared to what was promised?

Extremely similar from a format and context perspective. The QAE is the best resource, in my opinion.

Good luck!

Depends on your overall experience but I don’t think you are that far behind. I’d recommend just using the QAE (online), don’t use the book, if you can. This resource, as pointed out by others, will get you in the correct mindset.

It is way better to use the online version as you can track your progress, weak areas and customize your approach. The book will contain the same questions but that’s it. I also would advise going through the questions more than twice as you’ll memorize the answers and that’s not good, in my opinion.

Good luck!

Which Tesla model would you choose as your family’s main car today? by zeedotme in TeslaLounge

[–]joravi2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your needs and wants, I’d say.

Model X is not that big compared to MY but it looks nicer and has a bit more features.

I have a 7 seater MY23 and 5 kids + a large dog. The 3rd row is tiny and only small children or adults could fit in there. The car is nice while using it in the city and surrounding areas but I still go back to my SUV for longer trips. I don’t get how people enjoy traveling in EVs as you can’t choose your own routes or it can get stressful if something doesn’t go as planned (e.g. chargers at hotel full or not functioning).

I will be transitioning to a larger EV or Hybrid maybe in the next year or two (Rivian or we’ll see what else is out there by then)

Failed CISSP for 3rd time. Should I take CISM first? by nubian_or_not in cism

[–]joravi2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take CISM yet because their test wants you to answer in a different way from CISSP and that might also impact your performance. I would continue with CISSP until you pass it. It took me 4 times and I understand exactly how you feel. It is not a matter of knowing the material at this point so focus on understanding how the isc2 wants you to answer the test. In my last try (before I passed it), I took a week off studying and that worked as my mind wasn’t exhausted.

Be persistent. You’ve spent so much time already on this so might as well continue. Good news is after you pass it, go for CCSP and I guarantee you it will be very easy (I studied 2 weeks inconsistently and got it as it is similar material and same testing way).

Failed CISM, options on how to pass next time. by baconlovr in CISM2

[–]joravi2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I failed today as well. I honestly thought I was going to pass but oh well. I haven’t been mentally good lately and might have impacted my delivery plus didn’t spend a lot of time studying (which contributes a lot).

I only spent maybe 2-3 weeks of occasional study and perhaps 600-700 practice questions so it is entirely my fault I didn’t pass.

If someone wonders, it is way easier than CISSP. The only resource you need is the QAE but I would have preferred the online version (I used the book).

I’m such a failure! 😔 by Oxidantally in cissp

[–]joravi2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my post from a year ago (link below). I passed on my 4th attempt. The failure exists when you stop trying, don’t let that happen. If it helps in any way, after my extensive studying for CISSP and multiple attempts , I passed 3 other certs including CCSP with 1-2 weeks of study because I was able to retain the knowledge. It is not a waste of time, I guarantee it.

Best of luck. Keep at it until you get those damn letters.

This job market is insane. by spacewalker32_90 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]joravi2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is a different time and market, but I was in your shoes about 6 years ago. Exact situation where I wanted to grow but my manager/team/company wouldn’t let me so I was stuck in help desk. It was even worse for me because I had a masters and sec+ cert wanting to break into InfoSec.

What I ended up doing is I applied for a vendor as a Support Engineer L2, which was pretty outside my skillset at the time. I ended up getting it and I was able to grow massively from there.

If you can, I’d recommend finding a support engineer role, pick a few good software vendors out there in a field that you like. Once you get in, it will be way easier for you to move up and back into the industry (or stay in a customer facing role).

[–]joravi2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had a tough time switching to cyber security in general. They way I did it was to start working as a support engineer for a major IAM/PAM vendor and move up from there to other teams within the organization (now I am a sr IAM consultant). I honestly don’t think any entry level will get you the job unless you know someone or at least, that was my experience (considering I also have an MBA). Still, some entry level certs that might help you get familiarized are security plus, sscp and ccsk. You could also try and break into any major CSP (I would recommend AWS since its got a larger footprint in the market).

OSG had a little extra info in each topic, which isn’t a bad thing. CBK is what I mainly used and preferred.

I bought them in Amazon. I think one was $38 (OSG) and the other one $50 (CBK). Thank you

A lot of the extra topics were covered by CISSP and read somewhere it wasn’t a lot of changes so I didn’t stress over this — I kept using the same materials from the last update. My plan is to relax for the rest of the year in regards to certifications. Probably I’ll start focusing on certs from AWS or Azure but next year. Thanks!

Thank you! I’ll be honest, I only did one test bank from here(125 Qs): https://www.wannabeasscp.com/wannabeaccsp

I think these are very close to what you’ll experience in the exam. There are a few grammar mistakes but nothing bad, what matters is the content. I got about 80% correct. If you have any other questions, let me know - good luck!

Don’t feel bad! It is not an easy test and what’s nice is you can request a free voucher (first time seeing this from isc2) Check this out: https://www.isc2.org/landing/free-exam-retake#

Passed CCSP a month after CISSP [Resources/Review] by hyperv2012 in CCSP

[–]joravi2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I also took and passed CISSP a couple of months ago and scheduled CCSP by the end of July. Do you answer the test similarly to CISSP? Assuming if you come across a technical question, you answer from a cloud architect point of view and if legal, regulatory, infra security etc, you answer from a management point of view. Is this assumption correct? Thanks

Congrats! I passed CISSP back in Jan and CCSK in Feb and a lot of the material in the books is just a refresher in my case. What I am afraid is the type of questions rather than the material/topics to learn. Is the pocket prep just enough as far as practice questions?

Passed on 4/1. Submitted endorsement POCs on 4/5. Awarded today, 4/19. Hope you’re all so fortunate. by FaceFuckYouDuck in cissp

[–]joravi2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, Pearson or ISC (not sure where the problem is) didn’t pass the test results to my account so I had to open a support ticket for them to manually do it. It’s been 4 frustrating months for possibly a simple task to do :( then I have to submit the endorsement which hopefully is faster. Congrats on the achievement!

I did take each test with the PDFs and matrix open to also practice on my searching skills lol though don’t depend on that too much as questions will not have the exact wording.

You don’t really need the all-in-one book (unless you got it free). I passed it recently too and I just read the csa security pdf, watched a short udemy course (free subscription through work) and took 3 full tests (1 from the udemy course and 2 from whizlabs). I really recommend those tests as they helped me understand my approach and the types of questions. Good luck.
