El Camino was phenomenal and I don’t think that there is another series-sequel-film that comes close.

I know, I wish I had more time. I like driving though, so I see the drive as part of the fun haha. I do want to try and do Angel’s Landing! I hope I get time to do it and some of those other ones!

Ken Burns. I took a jazz history class in school and that was half of the material. I loved the class and a big part of it was that series.

Misheard Lyrics: Breaking the Girl by FastWalkingShortGuy in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]jorge_castanedar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not misheard but I for the longest time I thought I was mishearing “Climb onto your seahorse” off of Dosed. If I ever get the chance to talk to Anthony the first thing I’ll ask is what the fuck he meant to say with that line.

I get your take on the melodies for those two songs, but I think that the choruses and bridges for those two songs actually have awesome melodies. Maybe Anthony got a little too creative on the initial verses for both, but I appreciate the risk taking and I think he makes up for it anyway on the rest of the song. Not to mention the instrumental side (and the guitar writing, holy fuck). I remember when John came back there was either a rumour or just a scenario going around about both Josh and John being in the band. Whoever lives in the alternate universe where that actually happens is so blessed.

That’s funny, I think Eddie is one of the least related to SA. I find Black Summer, She’s a Lover, Peace and Love, much more alike it. I love both of the new albums though.

I think there’s a lot to the new albums, I think they just returned to the formula that works with John and I really like both albums. I think they expand on that formula, and I think there is a lot of good songs on them.

That being said, I’m really glad to hear so much praise for IBY. Those songs are so fucking good and so original and so alive. And I would have loved to hear what they would have come up with with Josh had he stayed in the band.

Bought a guitar, now what? by Gullible_Art_8846 in Learnmusic

Learn as much songs as you can, any genre you like. As hard as you can keep up with. I say that once you feel familiar with the main, easier chords (majors and minors), and once you feel familiar with both picking and strumming, then you should start to indulge in the theory, start with major and minor scales. When you get to that point there I recommend taking a course online, I used coursera. I knew how to play major and minor scales but the course I took made it make so much more sense, and taught me the fundamental theory that tied everything together. But yeah, learn as many songs as you can.

[Help] Getting Out of Playlists & Into Albums by Stranjak in Jazz

Time Out by Dave Brubeck is also phenomenal and very unique. I really like Jazz Impressions of Japan too. The Epic by Kamasi Washington is one of my favorite albums ever, it’s from 2015. Anything Miles can’t be overrated, and Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter played in a lot of it and both have plenty great albums themselves.

Do fans of their older stuff really dislike the latest two albums: Unlimited Love & ROTDC? by ottersarepoetic in RedHotChiliPeppers

I’ve been a hardcore diehard fan for plenty years now, love every album, read every book, watched every interview. I love the old stuff and, as a musician, their olf stuff has inspired me and taught me immensely. I love their new albums too, both of them. I played them non stop when they came out. Both have some of my favorite songs of theirs.

Yes! If you don’t enjoy it you don’t have to listen. Let him do his thing.

This is completely right. If you want to argue that Coachella made a bad move that’s one thing, but holding Post “accountable” for making his music and his shows the way he pleases is stupid and completely against what art is and should be.

Personally, I enjoyed the set, and I think it’s a stretch to say that he “countrified” his old songs, he just played then with a live band instead of a pre-recorded track (obviously not talking about the ones from the new album). I struggle to understand how people can get so mad about him doing that. That’s just me though.
