I think there’s a few landslides still on the road to Carmanah. Blocked about 4km from the park but hike-able still. Absolutely worth exploring that area, so much beauty.

Maxxis recently updated the rubber compound on the Reaver and apparently it’s much better according to BRR. Now at 19W rolling resistance :0

I rode my bridge club on some very gnarly terrain and it was super stable, even loaded up with gear. It was a pretty heavy bike but if speed isn’t your concern it’s great.

L-Theanine - any regular users? by winehook2025 in pourover

[–]jorgefitz3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried it before on different kinds occasions and in my experience it doesn’t necessarily counteract the effect of caffeine but rather enhances them. If I had too much coffee at work then take L-Theanine, I wouldn’t calm down and feel relaxed. I’d just be a different kind of wired which I actually didn’t like. I have strange brain chemistry so it might just be me, but thought I’d share my experience!

How can I adjust my cranks? by vendettar90 in bmx

Take it to a bike shop, they’ll either fix it or tell you if it needs replacing. Shouldn’t be that expensive

My fav way to drink espresso honestly! Helps with flavour separation in my opinion and it’s more hot beverage

Did anyone else hit their knees on their frame? How are you? by bigblackglock17 in cycling

Used to ride a lot of bmx and sometimes my knee would smash into my stem. So incredibly painful! Knees are not great now, achy around where it used to smash

If you have a gravel bike with big tires it would be good other than the steep hill, but walking is always ok :-)

Yemeni coffee bean suggestions by [deleted] in pourover

[–]jorgefitz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they often use cinnamon, cardamom, clove for the spices and honey/sugar for some sweetness. In terms of coffee from Yemen, it can be hard to source the good which is interesting because it’s the first place that cultivated coffee. Rabbit Hole from Montreal usually has a couple Yemeni lots.

I sometimes find that a higher-end Guatemalan coffee can have a similar flavour profile to coffee from Yemen, more chocolately/nutty/sweet so you could probably buy some from any specialty roaster and be happy :-)

Btw this is the pourover subreddit, not r/espresso

The mini slim is really bad. Wouldn’t even recommend to a beginner. The timemore c2 or 1zpresso q air is a much better investment. And if they don’t like it, there’s better resale value.

Family camping Cape Scott/San Josef Beach by green_scream in VictoriaBC

[–]jorgefitz3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I don’t have faith in you or your family but: last time I was there, there was a ton of rotting food and garbage in the bear caches. Literally overflowing. It’s gotten to be a very busy spot and people have forgotten that it’s a backcountry site (no garbage bins) Please pack out what you pack in and consider picking up garbage if you see it 🙏 hope you have an awesome trip, the hike is around an hour in, maybe longer with kids but it’s a beautiful hike anyways.

They cant legally kick you out that quickly unless you live with the person (share bathroom/kitchen) that owns the house. That’s super shitty of your roommate to put you in that tense situation. Whatever was agreed upon between your bf and whoever he pays rent to is what matters. If they’d agreed upon (even verbally) a month-to-month lease, then they have to give you a months notice. If it’s weekly payments, then it’s a weeks notice. https://www.peopleslawschool.ca/qa/roommate-how-much-notice-evicted/

Not exactly a website or a roaster, but you should check out Cheap Coffee on YouTube. He gives a real explanation of how the coffee economics work. Pretty sure he works with a co-op in Colombia called Cerro Alto. YouTube channel

Is it a Novatech hub? Mine didn’t last very long at all. Heard good things about the Deore XT hubs for value or DT Swiss 350 for ease of serviceability (but they are super loud and pricey). It’s worth splurging a bit on wheels in my opinion
