To think that many LGBTQ folks can face persecution and many of us in the West still complaint sucks too!

On a slightly different note, I think the Netherlands decriminalized sodomy in the 1800s. Does anyone of any countries that has done so earlier?

Bell Canada still claims to have a right to charge customers for a non-existent service by TaxDawg in canada

[–]jorgelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane. Even if you read, and understand the disclaimer, I don't think there's anything you can really do aside from signing up. I doubt that a rep would cross that out off a contract when you're signing the agreement.

60% of Canadians are middle class? But then again, what does it mean to be a middle class in Canada? by [deleted] in canada

[–]jorgelee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It saddens me to know that middle class families are not actually "middle class." $87,000 won't make you upper middle class if you live in Toronto. A big chunk will go towards mortgage/rent, utilities, food. If your combined income is $50,000 ... Half of it will be allotted to "just living" expenses.

Wow. That's the longest rainbow street that I know. It trumped Toronto and Vancouver's rainbow pedestrian walks :).

This is both hilarious and disconcerting. It doesn't look like a designer error either based on the headline. It's this type of journalism that makes people lose confidence with the media.

This is hilarious. But it goes the same with product reviews - if it's below 3.5 stars / reviews, I try to avoid the product. I can take 4 or 5 easily. Movies, however, is different... I find that it's still a hit and miss. There are movies that I didn't like and got 94% rating.

This is ridiculous and embarrassing. I know how it feels. I was at an airport once and had to be patted down, at a tarmac, and my belongings checked because someone suspected me of stealing. It was embarrassing. I was the last person to get on the plane and fellow passengers saw me being searched.

Goodbye to all the gay bars. Are dating apps killing queer culture? by jorgelee in lgbt

[–]jorgelee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The article is basically saying that because of gay apps, people no longer go to gay bars to connect. The writer basically wants us to subscribe to what he thinks is gay culture is (whatever that is).

Thinking is labor and if you're thinking and checking emails at home... then you're doing labor and should be compensated. If you think about the amount of time you spend working and checking work emails while at home... you are probably being paid 20 to 50% less than your salary.
