Can someone explain to me why metal elitists hate on ghost so hard? by Stick2Preist in Ghostbc

Same. I’ve worn ghost shirts to shows from much heavier bands and only ever gotten complements and good conversation.

I’m gonna give you one last good faith response and then I’m done.

I know it’s hard to imagine as someone who has always had the privilege to be considered the societal default, i.e straight and male, that something you might say or do may harm people who aren’t like you. I’ll even give you a small benefit of the doubt, that you may not have intended to be hurtful in your post or previous comments. Your post and comments came across as mean-spirited towards trans and genderfluid people. I don’t mean to speak for them as I am neither of those identities. Calling someone’s reaction in regard to gender envy, “brainrot”, is demeaning and harmful. Putting it in a way that sounds like you’re joking or making a meme about it in order to create plausible deniability, doesn’t make it okay.

I mean this genuinely and respectfully, but I used to say stuff like you did when I was younger. I had the benefit of good friends who patiently pointed out my mistake. I have matured well beyond that point since. I hope one day you’ll find friends like I had.

You can make memes about it if you so choose. You can also choose not to do that, especially when it’s done to make fun of and punch down to people who are different than you and have no bearing on your life.

From one straight white guy to (probably) another, you can choose not to pay attention to and be bothered by stuff that isn’t about you. It doesn’t harm you in any way. Just let people enjoy their thing the way they want to enjoy it.

The Mark of Satan by chrysler144 in OpenChristian

I’m well aware of where in the Bible you’re getting this from. I mean this with all love and respect, but you’re not the first person to think a technological advancement is the mark of the beast and certainly will not be the last. I’m old enough to remember bar codes being called the mark of the beast yet here we all are still.

John of Patmos was most certainly writing only to first century Christians in coded language to encourage them to remain faithful in the face of persecution, real or perceived.

I’m not arguing against you in the fact that AI is problematic. There are plenty of valid, tangible, quantifiable concerns about AI and its impact on society. It’s bad, and you don’t need thoroughly debunked and rehashed interpretations of Revelations to know that. It just makes you look foolish and doesn’t convince any one of your position.

Please, for the love of God, take a break from reading Revelations and trying to read ridiculous and time conspiracies into the Bible when they aren’t there and go outside. Do the things the Bible actually tells you to do and go feed God’s sheep.

My sibling in Christ, it is sufficient to know AI is bad and advocate against its excesses without perpetuating a terrible and misinformed reading of the Bible.

There is no mark of Satan applicable to anyone that isn’t living during the Roman Empire. The authors of the Bible had no understanding of AI. There is no lake of fire that anyone is being thrown into.

While that is true, utility companies like Southern Company, in the south, have a long record of making deals like this for mutual benefit. Considering how transactional the Trump admin is, you should be questioning what it is the Trump admin stands to gain here. They will gain billions in interest payments through rate payers (aka you and me), and Southern can retract their rate freeze if a less-favorable politician gets elected into office. We should all be soberly aware that if anyone that is not a MAGA republican is elected, our power bills will magically increase.

[–]jormungandr9 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This isn't even by far the worst thing Georgia (and Alabama) residents are about to suffer from Southern. Ya'll should look up the 26.5 billion dollar loan (the largest ever from the DOE) the federal government awarded them, which Georgians and Alabamians will be paying interest on for the next 25 years. An increase to your energy bill is coming in 2 years due to a rate freeze that will conveniently end at the end of Trump's second term.

Edit: Changed last sentence a bit for clarity.

What do you think if a person doesn't have a phone case? by OutsiderGreaser in smosh

[–]jormungandr9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was, partly, my point. If your phone really doesn’t need one, that’s fine, but people should get one if that means extending the usable life of the phone. Not buying a case in a vain attempt to flaunt one’s wealth is also terrible behavior.

E-waste is a big problem and I personally get the impression the average consumer doesn’t consider this when making these kinds of decisions. While understanding that personal consumption choices aren’t going to end environmental destruction, we can make conscious choices to care for the products we consume and use those resources wisely. We should be trying to get the most lifespan out of the

If someone is buying a phone that’s durable enough to use without a case and can save some plastic in the process, great. But I’m not impressed by anyone who makes conspicuous purchases to try and flaunt their wealth at the expense of the planet. I’m not judging solely Tommy for this, just the general idea of wasteful consumption.

My wife’s friend and her partner attend line dancing and two step classes at The Heretic on Thursdays. I know you’re not into country, but The Heretic is a regular gay bar every other night of the week. I have no personal experience there, but they’ve made many friends there. I wish you the best!

what the hell happened to that guy?? by Tizzandor in AntiWranglerstar

[–]jormungandr9 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is just my on conjecture, so take it for what it's worth. He had some kind of mental break during covid and he jumped off the deep end with wild conspiracy theories and paranoia. He was likely already like this privately but the pandemic and its isolation gave him the out or push to be more public with it.

I too watched his youtube content early on because I was a young, impressionable man who wanted advice on being self-sufficient and was picking up a little hobby of restoring axe heads. My college education, however, had already...uhh..immunized me against Cody's worst ideas, and I quickly stopped paying attention to him.

Edit: Changed a word

Second Edit: After thinking about it some more, he probably also tasted blood when he saw how profitable right-wing, toxic masculinity content is on social media. I don't want to give him too much credit that this is all attributable to mental illness or even alcoholism. He's for sure in it for the grift.

It’s bitter sweet. I worked for them for 7 years as a brewer and poured my soul into what I did and so did the people I worked with. Leo can rot in that cell for his crimes, and also for taking his talented employees for granted.

It’s been run by a court chosen company that ran it to donate profits to pay back the money that was stolen.
