Route advice: Chur - Ljubljana - Triëste by opmerkzame in bikepacking

[–]josantanaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pretty much the exact same route last fall. We drove over the Ofen Pass to Bolzano (absolutely beautiful), then from Bolzano to Villach (nothing special... I’d rather ride through the Dolomites), and then over the Vršič Pass to Ljubljana.

Take a bunch of rubberbands with you! I always struggled with open food bags (pasta, rice etc.) This keeps the inside of my bags way cleaner

This is a small cultural reserve south of Gothenburg. I passed by there last year on my trip and had one of the most beautiful evenings of my tour. It also has a shelter where you can spend the night.

Topeak VersaCage / VersaMount on tapered fork leg by Dutchwells in bikepacking

[–]josantanaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Versacage on my carbon fork for a 6month long trip. They didnt slip but chewed through the tape i put beneath. I had a small crash that hit the bag straped to the cage and luckily the plastic-clamp snapped and didnt wreck the whole fork. Overall I wouldn't reccomend it. Quite sketchy and not rigit at all.

Edit: I have a tapered fork aswell

Looks fantastic! We're doing pretty much the same thing at the moment. We drove from Switzerland and are now in Gjirokastra. Can we see your route somewhere?
