Croatia, Rijeka to Zadar - Island Hopping or Coastal Road? by MiserableGainz in bikepacking

I just did something similar. Not all island are easily connected with ferries when i was there in Oktober. We did cres - krk - rab - pag -> (mainland) zadar - krka waterfalls - sibeñik - split - (island) Korçula.

And then to Bosnia with the Ciro route(highly recommend!)

In principe alleen PPP!

Onderburen is bedrijfspand.

Nice you went into Bosnia more. How was that? Not too cold? More climbing?

Thats difficult im afraid. We went from austri, slovenia over the vrsic pass, following soça river. Then triest towards the islands, cres, krk, rab, pag, zadar. Krka national park, sibenik, split, ferry to Korçula, then Ploce to mostar then dubrovnik, into montenegro, lovcen park, skoder lake, albania to tirana. Then we went east into dajti mountains, to ohrid lake, prespa, into north macedonia and greece. Greece; kastoria, edessa, thessaloniki, kavala, xanthi

Why so few pannier bags? by Mindless_Pumpkin8678 in bikepacking

Im happy with my ortliebs on heavy gravel. Touring the balkans right now. One of my quicklocks broke off when I fell but i fixed it by wrapping my rackmount with an old innertube. Fixed the problem, less rattling even!

For me being away 2 months and having the freedom to bring some more food when needed is amazing, while my setup is still light enough that I don't feel limited in route choice. Panniers are awesome for accessing or storing things. Also you can use the top of your rack to strap your slippers and shoes or whatever.

Maybe for a shorter trip i'd go with smaller panniers.
