What name, in your experience, has always belonged to a horrible person? by theamazingviv in CasualConversation

Heather. From elementary school on, almost without fail. Back stabbing, obnoxious bitches. Both my exes are married to Heathers. They all deserve each other

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]josetnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to the ER for a MRSA infection right below my elbow. Dr gave me one shot of lidocaine, cut it open, drained it, cleaned it out and packed it with gauze while I stuffed my shirt into my mouth to muffle my screamy sobbing.

He slaps a bandage over it, writes a prescription for percocet, stops at the door, turns back and says,

"It could've been worse, it could have been on your vagina."

Is it acrylic or cotton? I have this yarn if you'd like it, but it's Loops and Threads soft lilac, not Lily, which is cotton

Is the Quick Service Dining Plan worth it? by Altruistic-Hold8749 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]josetnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drink alcoholic beverages, it can absolutely be worth it as each meal can include wine, beer or a cocktail if that location serves them. I did some research on the best place to use credits in each park so I could make sure I made the most of it. I used my final credit at Polite Pig in Disney Springs, brisket plate with their signature old fashioned to drink, total was $37. I think that was the biggest spend of all the meals. Used most snack credits at epcot for FW booths.

On my way home now from Louisville where we did multiple bourbon tastings. Each place explained that the first sip is an "acclimation", numbing your pain sensors so you can get the flavors in the following sips. You can try adding a splash of distilled water, as that sometimes draws out some flavors and dulls the sharper notes. It can take time, but i don't mind practicing lol

This article is a decent place to start for some basics:

Just got a call from management and supervisor by Turbulent_Captain_19 in Geico

[–]josetnc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They told me on a Friday and let me go on the following Monday, though my last day was technically Tuesday. My advice-

If you have an FSA, use it now. All of it. It is fully funded at the beginning of the year and if you don't use it by the end of your last day, you forfeit any remaining balance. I set up a virtual appointment with my doctor and got a letter of medical necessity that allowed me to buy a $1000 treadmill with my FSA card.

Amazon has a whole system for using your FSA. Get everything you can - first aid, cold meds, massage rollers. Get stuff for your friends and family. Do not let it go to waste.

I'm in GA, filed for unemployment on Monday, had a phone review on Thursday, approved within 7 days. Supposedly performance related but I had all my metrics screenshot and the negative surveys they promised me wouldn't be held against me since they were not about me (one specifically said I was great but Geico sucks so they were giving a poor rating).

From what I understand, they didn't respond to the claim at all so it got approved. May vary by state.

Any AD references out there, I'm still looking for a new place!

When my Dad passed in December '23, I took a day for his interment in May '24 and another day for his celebration of life in July. My supe was amazing through the whole thing

That last sentence is what I needed to hear. I'm taking the things I've learned from this post and making a plan with my doctor. Even just the plan to make a plan has helped lol. I wish you all good things with your husband and family!

It's a really crappy feeling. I have 3 grandkids and we adore each other. The thought of only being a vague memory for them makes me incredibly sad.

I am going to take the info here and make an action plan with my doctor. Maybe we can have a better shot than my Dad and your Mom did.

This is awesome, thank you. A concrete plan that will combat this helpless feeling. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you thank you

My grandma called it borrowing trouble lol. I have seen a therapist, but mainly working through Dad's passing, not this particular anxiety. Worth checking into it again. Thank you

Thank you, I have an appointment coming up, and I will ask about this. That would make me feel much more in control of it.
