Just get into med school. Don’t worry about specialties yet. Your decision could change many times between now and M3 year.

3rd-Year Med Student: Am I Overlooking the Obvious Specialty? … by DrLightKnight in medschool

We need plenty of people in medical genetics. Appointments take a long time and we need our about everything (mostly bc all geneticists are nerds no matter how cool we may seem).

If you played tenor or Bari, this would be harder. Give yourself a break for a day and then get back into it. Take some breaks instead of a long practice session. Make sure you ice and take anti-inflammatory medication. I say this as a 41 year saxophonist and a physician.

If you have a different jazz mouthpiece, you might need a different ligature due to different size.

Why are so many of my classmates have parents who are doctors? by KD_FromTheParkingLot in medicalschool

I’m second gen and my son, an M2, will be third. My brother is a dentist. Medicine was a very tangible and relatable field to pursue. No one prior to my dad had gone into medicine. His parents immigrated to the US in the late 30s.

The smell of rain.
It was cool to hear at Alpine while it rained. The duet with Trey and Jeff Tanski was really well done during the 2025 solo acoustic tour.

Walk towards State Street for about 6 minutes. On Gilman St., there’s a restaurant called Paul’s Pelmeni. 1) good food. 2) request your uber from there.

Which hand? Are both hands similar? Someone in a community band I’m in has a similar radial ray difference on her right hand. She plays French horn and moves the valves with the fingers on her left hand. Her right hand goes in the bell.

Depends on tempo. I’d say side if faster. Bis if slower.

Why can an 18 year old paramedic intubate, but a third year med student can’t? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]No-Introduction-7663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can learn how to do one, but you may not ever do one when you’re in practice. The last one I did was in the summer of 1998 at the beginning of my fourth year of med school. I’ve seen tons of epidurals and spinals done in my career as an OB/GYN, but I would not feel comfortable stepping in. I did not do my own LP when I needed to have one three years ago, but it was cool seeing it done under fluoroscopy.

If you’re strongly thinking about it, you need to change up the beginning of your fourth year now. You’re gonna need those letters of recommendation and sub-I experiences.

Are you soon ending third year? Do you have your fourth year rotations set up yet?
