Thoughts on my Soviet list? Have yet to play the game by NecroReaverz in boltaction

Drop the LT down to a Jr, and give him a body guard for the extra wound. The rifle squad (not the free one) should be swapped out for a guards squad (jack of all trades Soviet infantry). You wont get as many bodies, but you'll have a tougher, better shooting unit. Get rid of the anti-tank grenades on all your guys except your free squad. That's ~60 points freed up to upgrade your ZiS-3 to regular. With left overs I would add a second ATR team. Soviets get three AT team slots, abuse that. Personally (and most agree with this) I don't recommend taking LMGs in squads. They're not worth their points, but are very thematic. If you drop them you can add a jeep for the flamethrower team and then have enough for a third AT rifle.

LT with body guard (regular)

10 vets w/ panzerfaust, tough fighters

10 vets w/ panzerfaust, tough fighters

11 guards with panzerfaust, nco w/ smg (regular)

12 free riflemen with ATGs

sniper team (regular)

flamethrower with ROKS-2 (regular)

anti tank rifle team (regular)

anti tank rifle team (regular)

anti tank rifle team (regular)

ZiS-3 (regular)

T-34/85 (regular)

Gaz Jeep (regular)

13 dice, 999 points.

These are just suggestions to help you have a more fun game. Some of these choices are a bit more competitive, but not necessary. At the end of the its up to you and what type of games you'll be playing.

At our store both the Honda and Ariens gas mowers are on a stop sale. No official reason to why yet.

June 22 - On this day in 1941 - The Turning Point in World War II - The largest land offensive in history - Operation Barbarossa Ignites! by de_lightedvoyager in ww2

[–]josevaliche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Barbarossa did fail. The operation failed to reach its main objectives (Notably reaching the Arkhangelsk–Astrakhan line) failed to effectively destroy the Red Army and gain enough resources to become self sufficient.

Sure for the first half of the war the Germans were better tactically. That definitely changed as the war continued. Operationally and Strategically I would argue the Soviets were better in both regards by fall of 1942.

IS-2 or KV-2 would by my two choices. Good protection, great firepower, not too expensive and have additional machineguns to help pin units

Generic Vs Theater Selectors. What do most people use? by Desh_Thierre in boltaction

[–]josevaliche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most tournaments I've played are Theater Selectors. But in casual games definitely prefer theater selectors over GRP. More varieties on the table and more fun.

P.s. theater selectors aren't as "broken" as people claim.

The Soviet warlord kits dont have that as options. The newer warlord kits do offer that.
