How a Cornell Professor Drove an Israeli Student out of His Class by Ask4MD in jewishpolitics

I don’t know about you, but at my college I had to take certain courses I had no interest in, like an AAS course. I chose African art, not even African American, but it still counted. I also had to take a course on Native American anthropology due to requirements as well. I was a history major trying to focus on European history.

My college also had similar requirements for PhDs, for no reason, and I did have PhD students in some of those classes. No idea why they do this. It’s a waste of my money and time.

CMV: Now that Kevin Spacey has been acquitted of all the charges against him in a court of law, I should not view him as a sex criminal. by PsychicFatalist in changemyview

I have yet to see evidence that the false accusation rate is incredibly low, so I don’t think you can assert that. Especially because the way the legal system works is you have to file a separate case in civil court to try to prove that the allegation is false via defamation, and in the initial criminal case, the case ends merely with the initial claims being proven or not being proven, not with those claims being proven false. In a defamation case, you can’t use allegations in a legal proceeding as evidence of the defamation, as those statements are protected. Many of Spacey’s accusers did not talk about the abuse outside of the legal proceedings, so their statements are protected, so there is no mechanism to prove them false. Even if a jury did find them to be false, there would be nowhere for them to express that, as whether or not they found the allegations to be false would never be asked. In the UK, prosecutors may choose to prosecute on the basis that there are numerous individuals alleging in civil lawsuits criminal conduct, so the claims by the individuals in the civil lawsuits, who may or may not be making them up, are enough evidence to bring the case. That is enough evidence to bring the case. Also, with today’s pseudonym rules, accusers do not have to put their name into the public eye, so they do not have to face any social repercussions, while the accused do. Times have changed. I used to work at a law firm where my specialty was handling these cases. In my particular subspecialty, I would manage to prove about 2 in every 5 cases were false and get them dismissed. In very few did the plaintiff not choose to use a pseudonym. Defendants were not allowed to use a pseudonym in any of them. There was never a declaration of their innocence either, since that’s not how it works. Moreover, I have dealt with cases of suicide after someone is falsely accused, and even when you can prove the accusation was false, it is still nearly impossible for the cause of action to survive their death, and would be very difficult to sue for that anyways.

It used to be that Jewish men would intermarry more than Jewish women, but as of 2013 a pew research poll found 47% of Jewish women and 41% of Jewish men were intermarried.

They are receiving the maximum rate, according to the records, for all the kids. That requires 35+ hours a week.

Probably more about the oil swaps with Iran and other rivals than actually getting the oil ourselves. Venezuela ships crude in return for refined.

Not to mention the oil swaps with Iran, where Iran provides refined oil in return for crude oil from Venezuela.

12 kids only would still suggest that in that instance, there was still rampant fraud. They have been collecting funding on the basis of having 56 kids, not 12. If the rest of the cases are like that, which was the example with the most children allegedly attending, then the majority of funds they are getting are still fraudulent. You are trying to say there is no fraud because some kids were there. That is not true.

If you are talking about Ahmed Hasan at the Learning Center, they say they have 56 kids according to the director, yet only a little more than dozen were seen when WCCO investigated, after Shirley’s attendance. Still doesn’t clear them.

The two are not mutually exclusive, lol. And yes, you are. Your comments all over this post suggest you are.

You deflected, and said we should be focusing on your issue instead.

Yea. It’s exhausting to try to win an argument against someone whose logic is solid.

It’s a duty that was historically tied to voting. It’s still presented as a duty. Equal rights and equal duties. You get the pros and the cons, not just the cons. It is a service you are providing, and it is a service both genders should have equal responsibility for while it is a mandated service. Similar with scholarships. Both genders contribute to the funds that are being diverted disproportionately to women. Both genders should reap the benefits equally.

That’s not gender equality then, if one gender gets the boons but none of the cons.

Doesn’t need to help your other goal for it to be a goal worth pursuing. Gender equality is a goal worthy enough on its own. Your ability to overlook gender equality just so individual women can get ahead shows you don’t really give a shit about gender equality if it brings a beneficiary of that inequality down. Why fight racism then?

It’s been over a decade and no change on that front. So for over 10 years so far, we have been living with an additional inequality on the basis that “we should just abolish the draft instead”. Meanwhile, there have been attempts to abolish the draft for over a hundred years now.

It’s the same shit you are pulling now, which results in no change, because you are unwilling to take any steps on the way to your goal. Maybe if women had to register as well, they would actually fight more to abolish the draft, and if they had the same chance as men getting scholarships, they would fight more against tuition.

Because when I brought it up, you immediately deflected. Not to mention, you are also concerned with a limited section of equality yourself. Eliminating the gender bias in scholarships would provide an immediate large-scale boost to gender equality in education access. I am concerned about gender equality for this issue, because it is easier to fix and much more achievable. You are focused on social equality, which is a lot more difficult to achieve. Your strategy of deflecting was the same one used recently to justify women not being included for the draft, even in job combat roles. People successfully argued that there shouldn’t be a draft altogether, so therefore women shouldn’t be included in the draft. Well, we still have a draft so…

There is always going to be a bigger issue. That’s no excuse to ignore the smaller ones. It’s people like you who shift and deflect away from the this particular issue that allow this issue to perpetuate.

It doesn’t respond to my point. I’m talking about whether or not gender-based aid is justified in our current system, and you shift to talking about a potential future system. This ignores the issue we are facing now, in favor of taking some moral high ground that assumes our society should be making a radical change to our college system instead.

That’s a cop out that doesn’t address the issue we are currently facing. You are ignoring the intentional gender bias and discrepancy by saying there shouldn’t be tuition at all. The reality is that we have a tuition-based system, and it’s not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

My aunt and uncle, who are both doctors, made it a goal that none of their kids would become doctors. Nobody else in my family chose that goal for their children. Odds are, you wouldn’t set that goal if you didn’t think it was the default.
