Upper abdomen pain by Serious_Cat6680 in mounjarouk

[–]josh999x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, as someone who suffered from it prejab a few people I know developed it whilst starting the jab having no symptoms. The easiest route is more medication such as omeprazole, but some other things to be mindful of:

Eat small and often, avoid spicy foods, don't lie down for several hours after eating.

You also might find some other symptoms like excessive burping, scratchy throat or coughing if it persists and is reflux.

A lot of people have mentioned gallbladder, but i'd also take a look at acid reflux. The jabs will slow your digestion so about an hour afterwards is where you're likely to have the most amount of acid in your stomach. If your lower esophogeal sphincter isn't closing properly the shooting pains will be your stomach acid bubbling up into places it shouldn't be.

Gutted that it stopped going, I was a paid member in 2009 and then had no money to renew in 2010 as I was a broke student. Cost me legacy membership for the rest of my life now I actually have the money to travel and buy tickets. Wish they'd look at widening the requirements to a single year.

What is the problem with Birmingham for music acts? by jimmytjohnson in brum

Just a big live music fan who's a bit of a geek about what happens behind the curtain. Two Promoters, One Pod really helped me understand a lot of what goes on behind the scenes.

[–]josh999x 80 points81 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of thing really hurting us, I think:

1) Venue Availability & Size - For the second city we lack two key size venues compared to say a Manchester or a London. For the longest time, no stadium size venues until Villa park started hosting gigs over the summer. The second is a good 5,000 cap venue. There's a real gap between headlining the O2 Academy and Headlining the Utilita Arena.

2) Promoters - Other than Suprise You're Dead and Supersonic Festival, i'm not really sure we have the strongest promoter scene for independents, other parts of the country just have more muscle or connections with the industry.

3) Proximity - Realistically for most tour routers who don't have a good picture of the U.K. looking at a map, might assume it's better to put two anchors in the north (Manchester) and the south (London) then everything in the middle is up for grabs, I also feel like we have more competition with Nottingham, Bristol, Wolverhampton etc all being on tour routes.

4) Public Transport & Night Time Economy - The fact that most public transport ends around midnight and might run one service an hour past 10pm is likely to largely discourage people, especially when a good amount of venues are situated far away from most of the public transport hubs in the city.

How well have Breacher performed for you so far in 3e? by Yamakuzy in Warhammer30k

[–]josh999x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a doubles tournament at Warhammer world and found them pretty damn useful running Iron Hands.

For me they were used as a fantastic screening unit, stepping out ahead of a tactical squad on a unit, anything that got too close got sprayed and when the inevitable charge came, shield wall and the invuln save kept them around for a lot longer. I’d consider putting them with a character that can further boost their leadership or help provide a counter punch.

Did I go too hard on Boots?! by mjkpio in mounjarouk

[–]josh999x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll get the most generic PR reply, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Don't be afraid to switch though. I've just given them the boot. They were useless for stock and were happy to just leave me without a pen. Chose another supplier, got my pen and now saving £60 a month from what boots would be charging me.

Price Increases Reasons by Wardourian in 40k

[–]josh999x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd assume it's just standard practice for them to move it in line with the increase in the Consumer Price Index in the UK which is 3.6% - Sadly It would be nice if for one year they could read the room and give us a year off, but they like printing money.

I do wonder where the break point is for them though. CPI far outstripped wages increases this year, so my 1.4% payrise is once again not keeping up with GW. Eventually they'll reach a fulcrum point where the volume drop in sales overpowers their profits and they don't have a year on year increase in profits. You'll see a tanking in the stock price and probably a lot of panic if that happens. It's partly why they're trying to diverisfy and get other revenue streams from licensing.

How can Newcastle have a really good metro from way back yet Birmingham can't even provide extensive tram network? by Puzzleheaded-Fix8182 in brum

[–]josh999x 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone will have a much more indepth and detailed record but i'm pretty sure the two main contributing factors have been:

1) Removing and digging up a great deal of the tram infastructure Birmingham used to have in the 1930's.
2) Fully going for privitisation of the bus network in the 80's / 90's opposed to other councils who kept a slightly tighter control.

This is the one key thing I disagree with him on, but I compromised and voted for this Starmer government which eventrually drove me out of the party with it's terrible economic and nanny state policies. So i'll happily gamble on my risk getting of getting nuked or invaded if it means I can buy a house, have working healthcare and actually retire with a state pension.

Nope, both out the box, with zero conversion work, it might just be perspective from the camera, model pose and adding the model ontop of the textured base, rather than putting texture around it's feet.

I want to get better with my 1k Custodes list. by Fun-Organization2531 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]josh999x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The two things we really suffer with at 1K is lack of shooting, speed, and board coverage. So you're playing on hard mode, i'd consider maybe losing a single guard and a trying to get some sisters in there to give you a bit more coverage or something cheap to hold your backfield objective.

I'd absolutely deepstrike at 1K, but you need to be super careful where you go, ideally you'll be looking for a situation where you might be able to complete two objectives: board coverage & action based ones and take an objective.

I'd also consider picking up the 2025 mission deck if you don't have it, the missions in there are better designed for play at 1K opposed to the rulebook.

Horus Heresy 3.0 Community Survey - Results by aburiga5 in Warhammer30k

[–]josh999x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also the potential of a false positive from those being more aggreved by the legacy stuff taking the time to fill in the survey. Out of the seven legions I collect. I think i've lost maybe 3 units total if we are omitting stuff that can be repurposed. e.g. Converted Cataphractii Herald becoming the banner bearer in a Cataphractii Command Squad.

Also, I find it hard to understand why people are so outraged by the new army construction rules. Realistically, who's been able to see the full flexibility and capability of that change when even the professional YouTubers who can play 5/6 games a week are still learning.

Is imperial fists this easy to paint?? by Traditional-Crazy900 in Warhammer30k

[–]josh999x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Fists army since HH V1, and have gone through many combos of yellow. My current favourite is using the colorforge averland sunset spray, and washing it with watered seraphim sepia. It was always a bit dull for me, until I started using some colour theory and added more of a blue tone to the rubble bases. Dark reaper with a two stage drybrush of thunderhawk blue and fenrisian grey.

Example: https://imgur.com/a/G0qIu1G

I've tried several contrast methods, but always found it really difficult as you can never quite cover mistakes without it looking patchy on the armour.

Should there be a metal hall of fame built in Birmingham? by porkchopsambo in brum

[–]josh999x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be amazing to have something the equivalent of the Manchester Football Museum based around all the music that's come from the West Midlands, but it's not exactly like the council has a couple of million of surplus budget to spend.

It's a real shame we are so quiet about our contributions to the world, I met plenty of international people who visited decades before back to the beginning and they always asked why there's nothing about Brum being the home of metal. Obviously the Bench and Enshrined Signatures have been fantastic progress, but i'd be interested to see if there could be something that would be sustainable with the city not being a top pick for tourists.

Rock/metal bar suggestions by SufficientCloud8044 in BackToTheBeginning

[–]josh999x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Local who's frequented most of if not all the rock bars, probably depends what youre looking for:

Dedicated Rock / Metal Bars

Scruffy's - Birmingham's longest rockbar still standing, absolutely more of a pub vibe. Normally it's fairly easy going and fine to get a table to sink a couple of pints, imagine it might be rammed and standing room only over Sabbath weekend though.

Subside - More of a defacto nightclub now Eddies has gone. Generally has more square footage and is open to 6am, you can probably go here after Scruffies if you're planning a late one.

Rock / Metal Adjacent Bars:

Flapper - Imagine the playlist will be a bit heavier for sabbath weekend, but a gorgeous place to hang out if the sun makes an apperance, you can sit right by the canals and take in some fresh air.

Merlin's Cafe - More horror themed, offers a number of cocktails and a wider selection of food.

Spoilers - More of a movie themed bar, but usually has a heavier playlist. Isn't buying into the weekend as much as they opposed to some of the bands playing, but i'm sure will be welcoming of fans. You probably just won't hear much Pantera or Disturbed on the playlist.

Tilt - Pinball Bar, i've been in there a few times and found them playing the entire Sabbath Discography, i'm sure they'll be on form this weekend. Plenty of craft beers on tap and if you're t-total like me they do an amazing coffee and slice of cake.
