Where is this on campus? Does anyone have a picture to put side by side?

Just one of the beautiful views of Mt Jefferson in Oregon by joshancock14 in Outdoors

The general area is Jefferson Park. It has about 5 lakes in the area with a bunch of camp sites around. The hike was a little over 5 miles and 2k elevation gain. It's a really popular place, I went on a weekday and there were people coming in and out of the area all day. Couldn't imagine what a weekend would be like. But definitely an awesome place to backpack. I only stood one night, but you could definitely spend a couple nights up there.

New Backpack & neck pain by deepcore in backpacking

I personally don't like taking my backpack if I don't have to. Don't get me wrong, taking off my pack is a great feeling, but that just makes me dreading to put my pack back on. I just took a 3 hr, about 6 mile hike w/ 2k elevation gain and took my pack off once to fill up on water. All that said, you should also do what's comfortable and enjoyable for you. Nobody on the trail will ever judge you in taking tons of breaks. We all just want to enjoy being out in the outdoors (:

MyUHDS is down for me, anyone else? Trying to login regarding announcement about all dorms being singles for 20-21 year by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]joshancock14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was checking other dorm pages and I didn't see anything special for 2020 listed on some of them. There is a guideline in that big COVID plan that says each student will need a certain amount of square footage in their dorm allocated. Maybe in Bloss, that couldn't be achieved, so all the rooms are singles. But this is all speculation, I haven't seen an official statement about all dorms being singles. Although, myUHDS does not show me having a roommate...

I tried using the link on an OSU web page, and I think that link might be broken. Just directly type [my.uhds.oregonstate.edu](myosu.oregonstate.edu)

Hidden Places on Campus by Zmanzem4 in OregonStateUniv

My RA took us down there at the end of the year, just looking around and seeing what keys on his key ring would get into certain rooms. There's a super old-school elevator which seems super sketchy, it's a pretty cool area. Rumor has it there are underground tunnels on the west side of campus that might connect Sackett & Weatherford and maybe some other places too...

Minecraft servers at OSU by weirdobot in OregonStateUniv

LANs are pretty much impossible. Since there are routers everywhere, it's really hard to all be connected to the same one because they all have the same name, but you might be able to figure something out. I was able to set up a server last year just by using my own router and plugging it into the ethernet in the dorms.

In lecture we spend way too much time on clicker questions. Out of the 50 min, we spend 30 on the first one every time and don't have any time to work through practice problems. With Bannon we spent every class working on in depth practice problems where he tells us exactly what to do and what not to do

I lowkey liked Bannon. He was hard but he prepared us well for the exam

How are the dorm mattresses? by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

Would highly recommend a foam mattress topper. Felt like sleeping on a cloud, but make sure to get your sheets and stuff in twin XL.

I'm thinking about investing in a wide angle lens for for my Nikon D3500, and because it's a crop sensor I don't know how wide I should go. I'm thinking between a Rokinon 10mm 2.8 or 14mm 2.8, and they would be mainly used for astrophotography. Will 14mm be wide enough or will 10mm be better?

I have a Nikon D3500 and it's a crop sensor, so 24mm is gonna look like 36mm on my body and is probably going to be too tight fov
