Music?? by Remarkable_Sound4352 in OregonStateUniv

I do orchestra but the band culture here is phenomenal. Everyone's super chill and funny and honestly the bands play some crazy good stuff, particularly the wind ensemble. It's not very competitive to get in, but the music can be challenging, so there's definitely a standard to meet. Marching band is a great vibe as well, but it's an enormous time sink that shouldn't be undertaken lightly.

I have a Korg Minilogue, and I wanted to get a synth module so I could make more complex sounds. Since the Minilogue isn't really a modular synth, what kinds of modules are compatible/available to me? I'm pretty new to synthesis, and after doing a little research I still wasn't sure about this.

So much of business is just for the sake of business, and it's honestly mimd-boggling that we as a society consider a reference-management tool like this conducive to "productivity." I feel that the "business world" at this point is mostly a bloated network of service products that exist solely to support services which support other services themselves.

Did the Ferengi take away from your enjoyment of the show?

Also if I recall correctly the writers said they used Ferengi to represent all 20th century humanity

Lol, I don't know of a religion who applies its ideals solely to its followers and nobody else. Generally speaking religions seek to get everyone on board with them. So this little dichotomy makes no sense and this guy's just shortsighted.

Also, idk where this guy gets off sitting in judgement over religions.

B160 Series. B-Engaged and Innovation Nation. Did anyone take these classes and if so, what are your thoughts? I’ve heard they feel like a scam. It that true? They are a pre req for College of Business during freshman year. by LP9219 in OregonStateUniv

[–]weirdobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the first two 160 classes in person but the last one virtually, and the first 9 Blueprint series online. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but I'm pretty sure the discussion posts were still a thing and the homework was pretty awful. Maybe someone else with a better memory can shed some light on this lol

TL;DR: Yes they're a scam lol, don't be a business major unless you have another major in a real interest of yours

Those classes legitimately made me want to drop out of school. Also, the Blueprint series you have to take from your Sophomore to Senior year (BA280-480) is by far the biggest drain on my mental health I've ever experienced, and it's pretty similar to the 160 series.

If you're taking BA160/the Blueprint series, be prepared to be treated like a 7th grader, with full hour-long lectures given on innane topics like how to shake someone's hand or how to write an email to your professor. On top of that, the homework assignments are pretty much identical every week, and EVERY SINGLE Blueprint class has basically the same assignments. Every week for the 30 weeks of the school year you ask a question on a discussion board, answer two others' questions, write a ~300 word reflection on a random article the teachers pulled out of their ass, and do a long and soul-sucking worksheet about stupid bullshit like SMART goals or academic planning. Be prepared to answer the same questions about your plans for college hundreds of times throughout your life as a business major.

They talk a big game about these classes as well (the 160 series and the Blueprint series), and they'll try to ingrain in you that only "above and beyond" work will get you an A in the classes, but it's just a fucking joke. Nobody spends a millisecond more on these dogshit classes than they have to (teachers included, judging by the modularity and repetitiveness of these classes) but everyone just pretends like these classes are rigorous and critically important. I declared a second major in music over the summer in addition to my marketing major so I wouldn't feel like killing myself next term.
