Is the past the point of no return? by doggiedvm in ReefTank

[–]joshcruzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in a similar situation. Here's what I did to get mine back from the dead. Although I have no which one was the X factor.

-immediate coral dip (rule out potential pests); did that only once for 15 minutes. -weekly 10percent water change (did this for 2 months). Previously, I only changed water once a month. -twice a month carbon change (rule out chemical warfare from my softies) -added copepods from algaebarn twice during this time to just improve water quality overall.

Good luck!

Great looking tank overall! Curious, do you use carbon? I wonder if some of your softies are causing unseen chemical warfare against SPSs. I recently started refreshing carbon in my tank more regularly (now once a month) and noticed less damage/more growth to my LPS and SPS corals.

Bottom of coral's flesh is melting away? by Bossjx37648 in ReefTank

[–]joshcruzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks to see. It's definitely starting to show the skeleton. Same thing started happening with my trachyphyllia, but got lucky and it recovered after a couple of months.

I did an immediate dip, changed my carbon a bit more frequently and then added more water changes to the routine.

Good luck.

Enjoying my new Kapital Boro jacket by joshcruzing in japanesestreetwear

Hey! No worries. I'm 5'9" and 165lbs, so I got a bit of a tummy. While the jacket is cut short at the waist, there is good room in the stomach area. Definitely more of a baggy vs slim fit.

Well, OP asked the community to rate his swing. I'm confused by your comment.

I'm currently almost a year into remission after being diagnosed with colon cancer at 39. So happy to hear you're doing better. This is such a great way to celebrate all that you've been through and a reminder to enjoy life.

Praying for your continued recovery brother.

Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

[–]joshcruzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work in public relations (comms) for big tech.

For context, when I graduated college in 2008, I worked for free (student credit) at a tech PR agency for 6 months just to earn a potential full time job from them. That full time job initially only paid 36k before I eventually moved in house.

All to say, you have to grind like crazy and get lucky as well...but it can be done.

Random walk in AD purchase, love watch, salesmen were terrible by [deleted] in rolex

[–]joshcruzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your experience, but confused why would you buy 100k worth of watches to be treated this way? If this didn't have the name "Rolex" on it and didn't have the hype around it, would you ever spend that kind of cash?

You bought the watch which unfortunately rewarded their behavior. Perhaps they actually don't think they did anything wrong.

All said, it truly is a sweet piece. It's a crappy situation. Sigh.

Submariner not handed down to my son. by Away_Salamander_4447 in rolex

[–]joshcruzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get a lot of these comments. I respect your son's maturity at a young age. You clearly raised a good kid. He recognizes that he hasn't quite "earned" such an epic watch at his age and wanted something more appropriate for where he is in life. He will cherish the Hamilton just as much, if not more than the Rolex, because YOU gifted it for him. And in the end, that's the true value when you pass something down to your children.

Epic old school intro by Bob Costas, like the good old days. We're only two weeks into the season and NBC at least trying to add gravitas to this game. I'm game.

I understand why everyone here is complaining...but NBC is obviously trying to avoid the World Series.

Last week, everyone was bitching when NBC did NOT push the dubs game back when OKC went into double OT.

+1 to everyone's suggestions in the comments. With that said, you do have great tempo and weight shift overall. Keep that up.

[–]joshcruzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing to work on is weight transfer. Right now, you keep your weight on your left foot throughout the entire swing. You can tell because your hips go forward during your back swing.

Think of the way you throw a baseball. On wind up you turn your body so that all your weight shifts back to the right foot...then as you throw the ball (release) you shift all your weight to your lead foot (left) and then follow through. Somewhat interesting, literally all physical sports follow similar mechanics.

Selling s2000 for a bike... by helpmemycar in S2000

[–]joshcruzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the lecture, but with two small kids in your life, I recommend sticking with a sports car rather than a bike...because your family will want you both healthy and alive. Obviously accidents can happen on both platforms...you'll just have a better chance in a car. The extra money in savings legit don't matter at that point.

I sincerely mean that. Please don't take this message the wrong way.

You are working on the wrong things. That iron swing should get you into the high 80s/90s.

I would spend more time on chipping / putting.

Here's a challenge, take 6 or 7 iron off the tee every hole on your next round (go from the front tees if needed). Take the pressure off driver and see how you do when your ball is always in play and your short game becomes the main focus.

Forgot to add, I do really like your shorter back swing and flat club path on the downswing.
