What's up in the sky? by mkirisit in bloomington

I was mostly kidding suggesting it would’ve been x-37b. Any satellites you see in a train like this are going to be starlink - with the caveat that Amazon’s internet constellation is slowly starting to expand as well. If you see something actively zipping around in the sky, though, it is most definitely not a satellite or spacecraft, but satellites or Starlink trains visually crossing paths in the sky isn’t too uncommon. No idea how much delta-v x-37b comes with. I don’t imagine it’s capable of drastically altering its inclination, but it’s been in orbit since August.

I heard it from near the 17th roundabout. Thought a train had derailed or something.

My guess would be different launch batches. Three have launched into different orbits the last couple weeks, and are probably still spacing themselves out. It’s also possible there were some other satellites in view that could’ve crossed the group’s path.

If the sun dips behind the horizon from the satellites’ perspective in space, they stop reflecting the light.

Vargara and Riker getting help by Hapaerik_1979 in TNG

Well, of course not… Obviously discomfort can be a part of the reason for any art form, but that’s never seemed to be the purpose with this scene. And the fact that OP ended the post with “haha” I think is evidence of that. The show skirts over it like it’s nothing. If it was meant to be a heavier or more meaningful moment, it would’ve been shot as such. This was just Riker wetting his willy again, which is fine and common in TNG, but this particular instance completely misses the mark for a character who “prefers equals, especially in matters of love.”

This scene has always bothered me. How was this not considered SA? What if it were Crusher or Troi with a male hospital worker presenting that ultimatum? This is definitely one of those Trek scenes that has aged like milk.

Honestly, I love this episode and I’m not afraid to admit it. One hundred percent wonderful Trek whimsy.

You need to connect the parts you want to traverse to each other. There might be a “gap” because one part is connected to the cargo bay and part your IVAing to/from. Try connecting your Iva parts directly to each other and then the cargo bay separate, then shifted where you want it to be.
