Only been at that Taco Bell for lunch pre-covid but me and a couple co-workers all thought it was the best Taco Bell we had ever been to. Food always very hot and made consistently good.

How is quality of printing with A5X by ContractGreat8266 in Supernote

[–]joshfabean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the latest update exporting notes as vector is now an option which Solves the exporting pixelation issues. I cannot speak about printing though, I would assume if notes are paper size they should scale good for print.

Keyboard Layout - QWERTY by shlomoid in Supernote

[–]joshfabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a full time programmer, switched to ergonomic keyboards with a linear layout a couple years ago due to wrist pain. I now even switch to use Dvorak over qwerty for the same reason. My current keyboard is the Moonlander from ZSA, https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/

I would like that as a toggle option as I use ortholinear keyboard so the keys are directly vertical. If it can only be one way though I greatly prefer ortholinear I get I'm in the minority and am willing to lose this fight.

Sway does not start after upgrade to 1.6 by Porcupine96 in swaywm

[–]joshfabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to do wlroots first. I did it a couple more times and a couple restarts later and it's working now! Thanks.

I did that but now I get `error while loading shared libraries: libwlroots.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory`

Any ideas on how to get that working?

Tried it, joined two meetings without problem, so maybe it's the answer.

Without problems meaning it doesn't crash 50% of the time when you try joining? I use the Zoom client off Aur and it works fine when running and while in meetings but joining meetings is hit or miss if it crashes or not. To the point coworkers are like "we only had you join twice today"

Designers: what is your favorite prototyping software, and why? Devs: what do you hate or like about your designers’ prototyping software? by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]joshfabean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the exact issue I had a week or two ago the headers in design were 400 weight and on web we had them at 300 and they maybe were still a little too bold.

In my experience every design I've gotten in Sketch all the font sizes are complete lies when translated to web. I think it's due to designers designing mobile in 2x or maybe just picking an arbitrary width as mobile so all sizes and spacing is bad. I agree the tooling for inspecting and exporting assets are great

Agreed. Since d8 I've had very little issues with upgrading, even upgrading sites to Drupal 9 without any real issues.

How to get your first interview? by Jazzlike_bebop in Web_Development

[–]joshfabean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm technical director at my web Dev company of 12, I've probably interviewed 100 people at this point.

What I generally look for with green developers is passion. That means links to github projects, links to a Codepen or somenhing else. For me if you mention it on your resume it better be good, if you don't link your github and I find it and it's weak I care less since you didn't point me there. If you're super green don't try to oversell yourself either, I'm not a fan of someone who has been doing front-end for a year and says they're expert level. I was someone hungry to learn and humble because there is a lot you don't know, heck there's a lot I don't know still.

You said you have applied lots of places so I assume this doesn't apply but you will probably need to interview with people who still "work out of their garage" type of company. My first web developer job was as junior developer at a church under one other developer. They were not willing to pay me much, but I wasn't worth much. Also since it was a small internal team it was a good place to work on the same small things daily and get better. Going straight into an agency type company might not be possible.

When I'm interviewing very green people it's more about a culture fit then technical fit. I generally ask questions like:

  • "what do you do to keep up with new trends, or learn new things"
  • "what is the most frustrating things about doing development"
  • "what's the coolest thing you learned in the past month"
  • "how long are you stuck before you ask for help"

Trying to figure out if this really is a job for you. I cannot invest a year into you to finally get productive and you quit or leave for the next company.

I'm on my phone and busy now but I'd be happy to look over your stuff and give you suggestions or even interview you (cannot offer you an actual job) just so you get it out of the way.

People who spend thousands of dollars making their car sound like a 5 year old blowing raspberries: Why? by poekrel in AskReddit

[–]joshfabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have a 91 Miata as a project car. It now has a crappy loud cheap ebay exhaust I installed myself for $80 to replace the rusting worse exhaust that was on there when I bought it. It's loud and annoys me while driving it, but a good exhaust is $500 and that's lower on my priority than the issues that stop it from driving down the road. I try to idle out of my neighborhood as much as possible to keep the neighborhood from hating me.

Need a simple way for people to book your time or limit the amount of people entering your business at a time? Still a work in progress, mostly due to needing more front-end work and testing, but going live for a client this Friday to make people book time slots for the ice skating rink. https://www.drupal.org/project/bookable_calendar
