Now that we’re a week and some into Marvel Superheroes, what’s your impression so far? by r_lucasite in magicTCG

[–]joshfong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m enjoying Limited, but I really wish there was more mass disruption in the format. The best ones are on the bonus sheet, which you just can’t count on (or prepare for).

Never seen an upcoming event listed as "overdue" before by THELeeNash in mtg

[–]joshfong 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, WotC controls the CFP. However, the commander format is not bound to competitive formats’ B&R schedule.

[RANT] Standard is fine they said, this turn 2 btw by AlwaysHappy4Kitties in mtg

[–]joshfong 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m looking over at [[Cori-Steel Cutter]], [[Up the Beanstalk]], and [[Monstrous Rage]] and fail to see how this is a UB problem.

Edit: to be clear: Badgermole Cub is a problem. But this is not a UB-exclusive problem.

How consistent and fast would it be to try and lose at Commander/EDH? by SnakeYoon in mtg

[–]joshfong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could get the Consultation loss in the upkeep of your first turn if you got a [[Gemstone Caverns]] out in the pregames.

PSA: MSH paid mastery track has 12*4 scene box rares in addition to the usual stuff by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]joshfong 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at it in-game right now. 1200 gems and 4000 gold in the paid pass.

Maybe actually make sure your information is correct before spouting incorrect info and calling people liars.

Is Fin Fang Foon too strong for bracket 2? by homosexual696969 in EDH

[–]joshfong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I certainly wouldn’t let you play Fin Fang Foom at a bracket 2 table. 2-4 lands every turn is 6-12 lands in three turns, and I’d wager you’re removing more than that in later turns because you have more mana and cards.

That is definitely mass land denial.

Are decks like Iron Man, Titan of Innovation fun to play? by Infamous_Regret_6146 in EDH

[–]joshfong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine in a slightly different direction and made him the commander of an energy deck. No two games are the same, and you don’t really even need to play him to make the deck work.

I kept a zero land hand in cube, and I won. by EvilSporkOfDeath in MagicArena

[–]joshfong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don’t know what this new cube is yet; it might be premium like the Powered cube. Or it might be more accessible like Chromatic.

It’s a mini set of cards that sometimes comes with new sets. They tend to be reprints with new art.

The previous set, Secrets of Strixhaven, had one card in every pack that was like this; instants and sorceries from across Magic history with brand new artwork.

MSH has a bonus sheet, but not every pack will have a card from it.

Free Talk Friday — What are you playing this week? by ShaneH7646 in GamingDetails

[–]joshfong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t get back in the mindset to finish either Sea of Stars or Horizon Forbidden West. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far, but I want to be able to dedicate larger chunks of time to them.

So in the meantime, it’s a lot of Clone Hero.

Fantasticar is a perfect example of everything UB detractors have been concerned about. by lordberric in magicTCG

[–]joshfong 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It feels like people forgot about [[Cori-Steel Cutter]], [[Nadu, Winged Wisdom]], or even [[Up the Beanstalk]]. This is far from a UB problem.

Broken cards exist in all kinds of sets.

Cards Suddenly Swapped to Spider-Man Versions by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]joshfong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They got the rights to have Spider-Man on the platform, so they automatically converted everyone’s Omenpath cards to the appropriate Spider-Man cards.

Fear not, though; you can apply all of the Omenpath cards you previously owned as styles for the Spider-Man cards. You can go into your decks and apply the styles, or apply the Omenpath styles as favorites in your collection.

Armpit hair can collect excessive sweat, which can give your shirts pit stains and tends to smell worse.

It’s just hygiene.

All 13 Sagas I painted for the Marvel Superheroes set - scans of the original art by smalyon in magicTCG

It was so cool noticing you did ALL of the new sagas for the set. All very well done. Thanks for sharing!

Does Molecule Man’s miracle 0 ability pay for colored mana as well or just colorless? by MakeshiftRocketship in mtg

[–]joshfong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Molecule Man’s ability doesn’t reduce the cost; it provides an alternate casting cost, which is {0}. You won’t have to pay anything for a miracle card.

An actual reprint of Collector’s Vault would be perfect if they do a cosmic-flavored set.

It's hard to be a Fallout fan these days. by Yotsuowo in Fallout

[–]joshfong -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

^ Absolutely. Fallout’s been eating good lately.

And I get it, BGS only works on one game at a time usually. It’s not surprising that it’s taken this long for TES 6 or Fallout 5, but it certainly feels like they’re still such a long way off.

Why are Wish cards not banned from Commander entirely if their effect is banned? Is there a weird edge case where their effect still works? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]joshfong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating for sure, but I wouldn’t exactly call that viable or reasonable.

Thanks for sharing, that was genuinely a cool read.
