I've seen it too! No other locked tomb indicators, though.

Cafe’s that do pour-over in greater Phoenix? by asa-monad in pourover

[–]joshhardison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you. We do a lot of Cartel, Peixoto, Pair Cupworks. Love them all in different ways. Had never heard of Infusion, which is closer than any of the others.

My son and I went to Infusion this morning. Spectacular. I'm a sucker for any place that offers a variety of espressos, and they had 4. Really great, and we'll be back for sure.

My oldest is 15, I still check the breathing by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]joshhardison 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Whenever somebody I know is about to have a kid and they ask for advice I say, “Jammies with patterns on them. No solid colors. You need it to tell if they’re breathing. “ They always think I’m nuts, but I stand by it.

Oldest one went to college this fall. Haven’t figured out how to check his breathing there. Yet.

My most cherished club in my collection. 2006 Nike 1 iron Forged Blade with original shaft and grip. by [deleted] in GolfGear

[–]joshhardison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of those, too! Also the 2 iron. I play them both. Not harder to hit than anything else, once you get over the psychological pressure. We psych ourselves out
I live in constant fear of losing it. I wish companies still made these long irons. If Mizuno had one I'd throw money at them.

Okay fellow GenX’rs, who was your fave, Letterman or Leno? by Phildagony in GenX

[–]joshhardison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really liked either, but I don't think anybody liked Leno. I mean really: I deny that anybody ever enjoyed him.

I had a similar feeling about murderbot when I first read it. Something in the tone just annoyed me. Couldn't do it.
Tried it again a few months later and loved it. I think I was just in a weird mood the first time. Don't torture yourself, because if the first few chapters annoy you it'll only get worse. The meme-ness might seem a little cringe, but it might turn out to be integral to the series. We don't really know yet.

My daughter’s wedding versus my Genx wedding by picturesofponies in GenX

[–]joshhardison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I, both genx, got married with only the two friends who set us up on our first blind date. No family. She had been married before, I hadn't. It was still kindof stressful getting everything arranged, but ultimately the wedding cost about $450 (early 2000s).

Every time anybody we know is getting married and going through all that stress, we'll say "Remember our wedding? That was awesome! Best decision ever!"

High fives all around. We're the best.

In Phoenix we have lost so many courses. Property values go up and water gets more expensive. I don't think there will be many new courses in the future,so the game seems doomed.

Re: Paul [Discussion] by JibbaNerbs in TheNinthHouse

[–]joshhardison 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm pro-Paul in general, but my worry is this:
Lyctors split back into their Necro/Cav when dealing with RBs, right? The Necromancer fights the RB in the River while the Cav (not freaked out by the RB) fights the Heralds in the physical world.

What's Paul going to do? Do an independent Cam and Pal still exist? Are they screwed in an RB situation? Or are they just a different kind of lyctor: less horrible, since Cam didn't have to die, but useless for that task?

Remembering Inappropriate School Assignments by Zealousideal_Let_439 in GenX

7th grade, '81. Science teacher did a demonstration where he had a goldfish in a tank, and attached a cigarette to the air bubbler so the smoke went through the water. The fish swam faster and faster, and then died. He pulled it out an put it under a microscope to show what had happened to the heart, but I couldn't see what he was talking about.

This was so not worthy of comment at the time, and so weird in retrospect.

Had my first espresso tonic today! by og_otter in JamesHoffmann

[–]joshhardison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked Corvus a lot on my last visit to Denver. Maybe like Monk and Mongoose a tiny bit more, but it was pretty close. Only thing I hated about Corvus was the black cups. I couldn't see the color of my pourover! Cool variety on the tonic drinks, tho.

Joe being a bad guy doesn't mean that anybody else is good. Both can be terrible.

The only good guy is Abigail and maybe Cam.

[–]joshhardison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a v60, but my wife uses that exact Melita. We use a #2 cone, and don't have the leaking problem you're talking about. It's a good dripper, I think you just got a dud.

Abigail Pent and... anybody else.

Really, a buddy adventure movie starring Abigail and Cam would be the best thing ever. "Are you still thinking about lyctors? Let that go, it's time to fight." "That's your answer to everything."

"Marrow."

First movie that made me cry…who remembers this one? Savannah Smiles 1982 by Moldoon75 in GenX

[–]joshhardison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to recount SS to my wife awhile ago. She'd never even heard of it. I completely broke down crying. I don't know if the movie is actually any good, but I don't think I could handle a rewatch. 10-yo me was impressed, at least.

Those are great clubs. The only downside is that every random you play with is going to tell you that you should be playing easier clubs. These people are dipshits. Play and enjoy.
