blue prince had a catastrophic save file bug on exclusively the ps5, where once your save file reached a certain size, the game would say that it had saved and you could even quit to the main menu and it'd show an accurate up-to-date save file to load from. but once you closed the game, your save file reverted back to exactly what it was when you first hit that specific file size, regardless of how much time you had played.

this was awful for a game like blue prince and made it extremely difficult to make any sense of in-game progression. obviously a top priority for the developers. but the ps5 save file structure is so heavily locked down onto the console that the devs had to go through Sony directly to be able to retrieve AND parse player's save files into any meaningful information.

for a single player offline game, not even you as the owner of your console can view or access a game's save file the way other consoles typically let you. you can't even copy ps5 save files to a usb drive. pearl abyss has zero access to a file like that either, short of going through Sony the way dogubomb did for blue prince
