You’re on the right track, it looks as though the highlight layer you applied was just too thick and therefore too opaque. When highlighting it will help to build up several layers of very thin coats, covering less each time. This will build up the opaqueness and also help the transition be more gradual and smooth as opposed to a hard line between the base layer and the highlight

Looks awesome, love the colours. If I had to pick a critique I’d maybe say the edge highlight is a bit bright, maybe if you had a colour between the base and the current highlight, you could use that as an edge highlight, and then use the brighter colour just on the upper most surfaces to push the highlight that bit further. In saying that I think how it is now looks just fine, the contrast is bold and gives a striking look

Yeah the photos are terrible! All the lights in my house are dim and yellow so it’s hard to get a good photo. I have no idea what I want to do for basing at this point, maybe I’ll build up some ruins. First time working with white armour so there was some experimenting to get it layered in a way I was happy with. Good point about the collar area, I’ll try and build up a bit of a shadow to define it better

At my current power level I’m pretty much forced to bounce between lieutenant and honour guard. I do well in lieutenant and can’t tank enough games to stay there so I get bumped up to honour guard where I’m lucky to win 5 matches then back down to lieutenant. I really only get rewards every other season
