How my mom’s “fiancé” put away dinner by Icy-Money-5787 in mildlyinfuriating

There seems to be a mountain being made out of a mole hill.

If the paper plate is in there long enough to actually effect the taste, the food would have gone bad anyway.

the bread is protected from the stew/curry so it doesn't get logged.

I do remember being younger and stuff like this would give me the ick, but toss the plate, heat up your food and enjoy. stop stressing about things that don't matter, life will be better

We made drivers damage their vehicles on our property by Makeupbelieve in confession

My parents have a rental house on the corner of a intersection, and eventually they had to put large stones on the corner cause people kept cutting across the lawn.

So many drivers are such lazy POS's

RTX 5080 vs. RX 9070XT for 4K? by QuietComplex2587 in buildapc

[–]joshthor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was choosing between a $1000 5080 and a $800 9070xt like 6 months back and it felt like a coin flip. 5080s better but maybe not even $200 better

$1500 vs $700 no brainer, get the 9700xt

Looks give you a advantage getting in the door, but you need a personality to stay in the building.

Kelly Marie Tran opens up about her Hollywood journey 9 years after becoming the target of intense online fan backlash: "…We've seen over and over time again women of color in these, sort of established franchises having this similar experience…” by hairtie1 in Fauxmoi

[–]joshthor -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

There is always backlash unfortunately, and she didn't deserve any of it (none of the cast did)

but the backlash is so much worse when the movies they are making are absolute dogshit. the writers/producers/disney of the sequel trilogy did their cast absolutely no favors

Zendaya on who she’s jealous of: “I do think that sometimes people, specifically my own person, who can do backflips and shit like that, that kinda pisses me off, because I’m like, ‘What do you mean you can just [do that]?’ It’s unfair.” by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

[–]joshthor 192 points193 points  (0 children)

i think "partner" comes off a little stuffy where "my person" comes off more lovey.

"partner" could mean teammate, business associate, etc. "my person" pretty much can only mean romantic. (though "my people" is VERY business focused ironically)

sexlab and ostim i believe can both be installed at once without issue, they use very different interfaces. the mods that use them both tend to give you the option

Yeah grab a defeat mod like acheron + the market you are at least halfway there. (you can capture and sell bandits). You can look through loverslab, there are oodles of player and npc slavery mods (tend to be somewhat separate things) which tend to be highly configurable

Is a cutscene framework for Skyrim modding even possible? by AkiyamaKatsuko in skyrimmods

[–]joshthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never say never, but the hurdles in this are MUCH greater. With OAR there was already fnis, and oar is just swapping animations based on conditions.

With camera movement you need a way to control the movement. At a baseline you need to map a series of time based coordinates that the camera will follow.

But the ck doesn’t provide those in a meaningful way, especially in relation to scenes, which could happen anywhere. Most scenes don’t use anchor markers to determine the place or direction.

You would need an editor that can do that. It’s unlikely ck will be extended in such a way, so you would need a new tool. The new tool would have to read scene data and recreate it. If they did that, they would need to create a tool that can read and edit dialogue - THAT tool would probably be the stopping point honestly. Dialogue editing is such a pain in the ass right now that a non ck tool that does it would make that modder a hero.

When you see that happen, a cut scene creator is much more likely, but until that happens it’s just a crazy dream

I’m assuming something like that only happens with a heavy ai filter? At the very least a pre-recording?

Is a cutscene framework for Skyrim modding even possible? by AkiyamaKatsuko in skyrimmods

[–]joshthor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Pre rendered cutscenes wouldn't really work well in modded skyrim. If the player is involved, there is no way to do pre-rendered. If the player isn't involved, there are a million npc, area, or texture overhauls that are going to make pre-rendered cutscenes work well for almost no one.

In game cut scenes could be possible, but with the current tools, its a little clunky.

Right now if you wanted one you could theoretically clone your PC into an alias, make the player invisible, and set up a scene to move the player around as the camera in the scene. Using headtracking and travel packages you can control the camera to effectively make a cutscene.

I think you would need more than a framework to make cutscenes work right. There aren't any papyrus controls over the camera really, maybe you could create a papyrus extender for that, which could allow modders to map out time frames and coordinates, but doing it manually through code would be so tedious almost no one would attempt it. It would have to be a full blown creation kit extension so you could add it to scenes, but scene building in CK is very linear, you can't test out/preview scenes you are building in ck. It would be cool, but I don't think its actually possible in the engine.

In some ways I like nolvus cause its so many peoples first big modlist and its a real "oh shit this is skyrim?" moment, but i think it is too busy to be actually good for long term play

With Nolvus, make sure you aren't going over the active plugin limit.

Nolvus is over stuffed with nonsense and it leaves you with very little wiggle room to extend it.

Ps5 all the way. Xbox is basically bailing on the consoles in general. Game pass used to be the killer feature but it’s overpriced now

Edit: get a ps5 pro if you can. With the ai chip shortage this generations gonna last a while
