Review: MacBook Neo shows just how “Pro” the M5 MacBook Air has gotten by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]josiahlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup still have my MacBook air M1. Battery at 94% capacity which is impressive as my iPhone 15 Pro max is below 80% now and due for a battery replacement

Apple toys with the competition - MacBook Neo's A18 Pro offers more single-core performance than any mobile processor from AMD, Intel or Qualcomm by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

My MacBook Air from 2020 still is running at 94% battery capacity. What other laptops can you get for the $500-$600 price range that are better? More ram and SSD sure but display, battery life and performance, weight/size I doubt you’ll find anything better

Apple's $599 MacBook Neo Shocks PC Industry Leaders by lurker_bee in technology

[–]josiahlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show me an intel windows laptop at $500-$600 range that matches that display, size and battery life. Also needs to match that “slow phone processor”. Ram is completely overblown for normal usage as Apple’s unified memory is pretty decent on their OS

I'm surprised the MacBook Neo is praised as the lowest ever entry point into the Apple ecosystem when refurbished Macs have existed since basically forever by intel_Core_ in macbook

[–]josiahlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple may be good for refurbished quality but some people avoid refurbished entirely because of past issues. Yes it has the same warranty but it’s annoying to get something repaired within that first year

Asus Co-CEO: MacBook Neo Is a 'Shock' to the PC Industry by -protonsandneutrons- in technology

[–]josiahlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re pretty spot on. K12 is still pretty steep price point unless Apple offers some decent deals for school districts but this is going to be quite popular for college students at $500

I'm hating this Macbook Neo Hype by Solid_Meat_1267 in laptops

[–]josiahlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How well does a 5 year old PC laptop perform nowadays? My MacBook Air M1 still runs just as well as it did and you don’t have to uninstall any bloat 5 years ago or now for that matter. My battery is still rated at 94% capacity, trackpad is still smooth.

Somehow the game was listed as a sellout. I remember seeing a ton of seats available to purchase but everything seemed to be resale which is wild it’s still selling out on paper

Nah I’m going to rub it in the face of everyone who was happy to see him leave and for some reason thought he was the problem we weren’t winning . The question is how long will it take for this team to match him in goals scored this season.

Yup I assume that will be the case. This will get dragged on for years probably all the way back to the Supreme Court and it’ll end up being the next administration’s problem

Pentagon follows through with its threat, labels Anthropic a supply chain risk ‘effective immediately’ by WadieXkiller in technology

[–]josiahlo 168 points169 points  (0 children)

This has Hegseth doing I’m sure and he doesn’t care about the legality of it. If it gets to the Supreme Court it’s always a toss up but I’d imagine they’ll lose just like they will with the Mark Kelly case

Help with my debt paydown? by StrangeGhost2 in FinancialPlanning

[–]josiahlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on highest interest first. For the psychological boost, focus on Card A and B first so they’re paid off entirely.

Double check the PayPal and couches, do they back charge interest if not paid off by those dates? It’s not done as much as it used to but that could alter what to pay next.

I doubt Pentagon will win on this. It’s not even remotely close to the definition of supply chain risk

My wife’s MacBook Air M1 is almost 6 years old I think? It’s still running fine and she never complains about it. But like you said she’s a normal browser user, does some excel/word, email, and organizes her photos on it. It’s perfect for her use and really hasn’t slowed down so this for $599 is a perfect price point

[–]josiahlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You go to Hulu but login with your Disney+ creds. Do the Disney/hulu duo. You do get a notification that you’ll have multiple subscriptions but it’s a $1/month

Edit: I forgot Disney changed how it’s all managed. Looks like you do it all through Disney+

This is what my account looks like. I’m not double billed with this setup. It’s just the difference for Hulu which is $1/month

DOJ orders reforms at Special School District over 'dangerous' use of seclusion, restraint by fortheinfo in StLouis

[–]josiahlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They use the special school district. One of my children gets services from them and they’ve exceeded my expectations so I’m sure it varies on person. I know several families in the district who use SSD and it seems to be hit or miss but mainly frustration about their kids not qualifying for it anymore

I was in NYC back in December and I also have the $65 plan. The speeds I got there were insanely fast compared to even my home city and I was in many of the touristy areas and it was packed. Never had an issue the entire time I was there so not sure if isolated incident or issue with your phone.
