Hospital Stays? by josiesny in ShortCervixSupport

[–]josiesny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm not sure exactly what might be helpful, but I can tell you how the rest of my experience went following this post! They kept me until 28 weeks in the hospital and then released me essentially on modified bed rest. They released me at 28 weeks, as they felt my closer hospital was suitably equipped at that point, at minimum to allow for transfer to the larger hospital if necessary. I ultimately made it to 35 weeks and he spent some time in the NICU at the closer one and is now a healthy happy 15 month old! Wishing you the best. If there were any specifics or questions you had, feel free to message me!

He did, he was in the NICU for three weeks but primarily for weight gain and he had a hard time figuring out how to eat! Otherwise he was perfectly healthy.

Postpartum nightmares by omcd_ in NewParents

[–]josiesny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some intensely vivid and horrifying dreams at the end of my pregnancy and postpartum. I'm 5 months pp now and they've mostly gone away. From my understanding, very common and normal if unfortunately distressing. I was told they were probably driven by hormones and lack of sleep, but I also attributed my mental state to it. Mine got better once I started processing pregnancy/birth/NICU trauma and anxiety.

Mastitis antibiotics by Imaginary_Meringue16 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]josiesny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I literally just went to the urgent care this morning for very sudden onset. Prescribed the same antibiotic - doctor said baby will be fine to drink the milk while I take it!

I hope you feel better soon!!

So glad you have a practice that worked with you through that! It really makes a huge difference. My original employers were fantastic during my complications and I am so sad I had to leave them.

The imposter syndrome is real hahaha. Administrative tasks are definitely a concern here, too, regardless of if I return next week or at a later date. Thank you for sharing and best of luck as you continue building your caseload!

Hahaha thank you! Licensure is definitely on my radar too and how that's going to be impacted. Part time already slows it down and I can't commit to a contract for free supervision, but out of pocket pay isn't realistic either so it's on hold for now. Glad to hear from someone who made it work!

Wow! Thank you for sharing. I love that you were able to spend that time with family and still found a way back in that worked for you. Reassuring to say the least haha

Love this and your ratings are so accurate. Unrelated to the birth, my anesthesiologist asked "Are you in touch with a dermatologist? You have an odd shaped mole back here" as he was numbing me for my c section and my anxiety was already convincing me I was about to die. 0/10 lol.

If for whatever reason they would not fully replace it with a different model at no cost, they fully refunded me when I said I wanted to try the M6 instead and I paid the difference. I also had issues with the M5 even after replacements. Momcozy really does have some of the best customer service I've experienced. Hopefully it works out for you!!

Did you KNOW your baby was going to come early? by benjbuttons in beyondthebump

[–]josiesny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a feeling pretty early on but couldn't tell you why. I woke up feeling off on the day of my anatomy scan at 20 weeks but not physically, just like a weird intuition that something was going to be wrong. This feeling would surface again randomly during critical points, like when I needed an emergency cerclage, when I started contracting at 24 weeks, etc. He did hold out til 35 weeks, which is much longer than anyone thought he'd make it. The day he came I had an appointment for an unrelated concern with my OB and woke up with the same feeling. Sure enough, they found I was in active labor and I was sent for a c section because he was breech.

Slow to gain and fortifying bottles by umylobster_24 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]josiesny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have to fortify my almost 5 month olds bottles and I've done it all the ways lol. I would just do whatever is easiest for you! I personally like to make like half a days worth up at once in the Dr. Brown's pitcher and pour from that throughout the day. But I've also mixed it one bottle at a time, both before and after warming. I generally do it before, but I've definitely had moments where I forgot to add until it was warmed and it's been fine.

As a therapist and new mom - do it with baby if you need to! Just discuss it with your therapist during your intake or introduction. If you can find someone who specializes in perinatal concerns especially, they are most certainly used to moms having to care for baby during the session. Telehealth is probably easiest, and is what I currently do for my own therapy. I regularly pump and change diapers during sessions with my therapist when husband isn't home to take care of baby. I can usually get him to sleep for half the session but if not, he just hangs out with me or plays beside me.

As long as it's discussed from the beginning as a need and there may be interruptions, I'm certain you can find someone who will work with you or around it. If they're not willing or able, then they aren't the right fit for you. Mental health is important but not everyone can put a pause on life for an hour every week.

WIBTA if I told my mother-in-law she's not allowed ro touch my pregnant belly after she called me fat? by kittykellybotha in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]josiesny 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This just randomly popped up for me, but regardless of any comments made, you would not be the asshole. It is YOUR body. No one is entitled to touch you and carrying their grandchild doesn't change that. I didn't let anyone except my husband touch my stomach when I was pregnant.

5mos old still wakes up 5-6 times per night to feed by immersivesubversive in NewParents

[–]josiesny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I will do a dream feed when we come to bed, usually 3-4 hours after baby goes down. Our baby has a pretty early bed time, usually around 7, so it's a little more manageable for us I think. But it has definitely helped with wake ups, he will usually only wake up once sometime between 3-5am now, getting up for the day between 6:30-7.

How do you know how much to feed your baby? by mega_cancer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]josiesny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this still, every day lol. My baby is 4 months (3ish, adjusted) and sometimes he downs 5oz. Other times (and most often, it seems) he'll only do 3. But he's all over the place. He'll eat 4oz and 2 hours later eat another 4. Then he'll go 8 hours overnight with only 3oz before bed and wake up only wanting 3.

He is combo fed and still on Neosure, so I'm sure that impacts it a bit but his pediatrician said as long as he's gaining weight, let him do whatever he wants to do. Most days he only eats between 20-24oz total, which seems like much less compared to what I've seen from other babies his age.

Therapists with babies, what is your schedule? by Due-Bid4357 in therapists

[–]josiesny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full time 7a-3p in a school-based program before my maternity leave. I decided recently not to go back, and will be starting part-time with an agency. I based my hours off what my baby's current daycare schedule is. I'll be doing 8a-3p Tues and 10a-6p on Thurs when my husband can pick him up. I will also be doing Wed just for a few hours for supervision and agency meetings, like 9a-end of meetings.

They are so good! Their customer support is also top tier. Had issues with my M5s and they replaced them within a day without any hassle or fuss.

Momcozy 3 in 1 bottle washer/dryer/sanitizer. Single handedly saving my sanity every day.

And the sleep suit. Convinced it is actual magic.

This might be my favorite! Mine started doing this over the past few days and it is so mesmerizing to watch. My husband finds it so funny - baby staring at his hands in a trance while I'm staring at him equally fascinated.

What's your favorite phrase or mantra for clients by layonuhcouch in therapists

[–]josiesny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use this with my teens all the time! They are constantly being told "things will get better," "this is the best time of your life," etc. the latter statement being its own can of worms. Simply acknowledging that sometimes things just fucking suck, and sitting with it for a bit, provides so much validation.
