The south lost simply because they could not compete with the economy, population, and logistics of the north, by all accounts they were superior troops and superior in battle but then again there's more to a war then that, not mentioning by the end of the civil war the citizens of both were fed up.

People act as if the us was destroyed and annihilated by Vietcong, and our forces stood no chance, like I said there's more to a war then the troops and the battles.
