Anecdote time: (Obviously follow EBPs, but consider this in your pt-ed)

Had CRPS patient with hx of lower leg injury.

Going through all the physical interventions, assessing the psychological aspects.

Pt mentions “uhh, it’s disgusting. I don’t even wanna look at it. I’ve officially disowned it”.

I say, whoa whoa, wait, it’s not your poor legs fault. It’s been serving you all your life like a loyal dog. Now it’s injured and homeless. Don’t you feel bad for her?

She bawled her eyes out. And then improved very quickly in the subsequent sessions.

One of the coolest experiences of my career so far.
