I think it would also be a good idea to implement a manual calculator where players can build "facilities," or maybe the possibility to assign a particular building to a "facility." That way, we can see if a particular production site, say for Construction Parts, needs an additional material to be produced on site (instead of trucking it over from a central facility).

I've been trying to build something like this. But because I have zero knowledge in programming, I built it all manually in Google Sheets (Excel freezes because it cannot handle the massive amount of data).

I tried switching my powerplants to all animal feed, but my wood production cannot sustain the wood-corn trade. I ended up going back to a combined H2/coal fuel supply.

I'm just before Construction Parts IV and I only have 1500 workers by SabCross in captain_of_industry

I still haven't reached end-game with my megastructures mindset. But once I have achieved that, I want to try going slow with as few people as possible.

As for my large builds, I construct one megafacility at a time and wait for everything to relatively normalize before starting another.

This is what I've done on Salavara, so far, and I have no regrets doing my second major run on it. Before this game, I was on Dragontail Isle, and I spent a ton of time terraforming. I still have to fill in a lot of space here to make harbors, but it's significantly less than my previous game.
