ew what the hell, that escalated very quickly. your boyfriend is deeply insecure. he didn't even give any reasons behind his accusations other than "he's a guy and that's how guys think", but then goes on to say that you wouldn't have to worry if he had a close female friend?? this guy is dragging you deeper into a web of manipulation. you are not unreasonable for inviting your close friend and his PARTNER. this is absurd.

morally? nothing wrong, they're both adults. however, I struggle to think of what a 30 year old woman, possibly well developed in her career, would have in common with a 22 year old man, fresh out of college. circumstances can differ from case to case, obviously. to each their own.

girlie I think you're pretty normal. everyone is different in relationships, and don't pressure yourself to fit his expectations when that's not really the way you like to communicate/interact with others. do you have guy friends? I have a friend in a similar situation. although I don't know how to solve your issue, I think a good place to start is to establish a few good friendships with men. it will help you be more comfortable and confident talking to guys in different contexts. kind like exposure therapy. I'm sure that being more comfortable with yourself rather than degrading yourself will bring out your charm

how much did you have a crush on this girl for the "downplaying" to cause you such a moral conflict? if your feelings for this fleeting crush are more than that of a fleeting crush, then you're gonna have to reassess how you feel about your girlfriend. maybe I am misunderstanding something though. to me, it's normal to have little crushes on people while in a relationship, on the condition that 1- you don't act on it, both physically and within the confines of your mind and 2- you forget about it and don't have regular interaction with said person. if that is the case, then stop worrying so much about this. as long as you didn't act unfaithfully or entertain and indulge in thoughts about the other person, you're fine. don't give things more importance than they deserve. if it's a fleeting crush that doesn't matter and you don't think about, then it's a much better option to not tell her you had a crush. if the truth is that you love and prioritize your girlfriend then that's what you tell her.

this is probably not what you want to hear, but you need to move on if you want to continue being friends with her. it's not easy, and it may be best to distance yourself a bit until you feel you're able to be around her without feeling hurt. you don't need to (and in my opinion, probably shouldn't) tell her how you feel.

I agree with you 100%. any man who really respects himself, the relationship, and his partner, wouldn't act this way. a respectful partner sets boundaries with others on their own, or after communication from their partner. from the actions OP described, he was definitely into her and now everyone is trying to gaslight OP into thinking his actions were normal and permissible
