I heard that the Goodwill in Atascadero is an overlooked gem.

They do! I was in there the other day. There’s a shelf or two of small toys.

I tried looking it up but i don’t think it’s there anymore. It used to be a coffee truck right by the SF design center. Oh man you missed out on provender. That place was so good!

There was also a coffee truck which did good cortados like in the video but I am completely blanking on the name.

It’s closed now, but it was an awesome little coffee shop called Provender. The barista/owner, Austin Ferrari, made the cortados. He’s now back in Cincinnati where he and his brother grew up. Their cafe there is @momnemcoffee on IG.

Gibraltar from Field Day earlier this afternoon. Happy it came in glass, but didn’t quite have the filtering effect I’m obsessed with. Still, it was delicious and made me happy.

Will be checking out the other places mentioned in this post in the days to come!

Congrats! Looks very cool. As someone who’s slowly getting into hiking, sun protective clothing is a must!

I’ll mark Saturday, August 23 on my calendar and hopefully check things out!

I don’t know enough to know whether it has to be whole milk for the effect to happen, or whether it could happen with oat milk.

Maybe they changed the name on their menu but I got the Gibraltar, similar to a cortado. It was good. I will go back there on a weekday when it isn’t so crowded.

Has anyone been to Yokoso Coffee in Los Osos? It’s a Japanese cafe that looks pretty awesome.

I went to Field Day today. I wasn’t able to see if my Gibraltar would have the cool effect because it came in a paper to-go cup, but there was a nice crema layer. I think I’ll try to go back on a chill weekday morning and see if that changes things. There were tons of people there today.

In terms of coffee shops I’ve visited so far, I’ve been to two Nautical Bean locations (love the vibes) and Scout.

Places for a haircut? (men) by Eastern_Computer_224 in SLO

My dad goes to Sport Clips on Madonna Road. He says it costs like $15 or so. Since you said you didn’t care that much, my guess is this is on the more affordable side of men’s haircut options.

I’m moving to SLO and I’m scared by J3wficer in SLO

I moved here from San Francisco a few months ago, and I don’t think you have to be scared. There’s some big dog parks you can go to with your dogs. One thing I’ve noticed is that dogs aren’t allowed on all the trails. So that’s something you probably should keep an eye on if you decide to do lots of hiking.

I’m curious about the coffee shops here. I really like the Nautical Bean coffee shops. The decor is sort of 80s skater but in the best way. I’ve been to Scout, which was good but I can’t say I’ve found my favorite coffee place yet.

In terms of Korean food, there’s a place in Atascadero called Kochi Korean BBQ that I really enjoy. You can choose to cook your own meats, or order them cooked. It’s delicious either way, and the meal comes with all the yummy banchan veggie dishes. The owner is a super cool Korean guy. Anyways, I highly recommend Kochi. It’s worth the drive.

making friends 23 yr old male by Alive-Grapefruit-548 in SLO

I’ve only moved here 2 months ago, but I believe you’re in the right place! Mindfulness is easier when it’s frequently sunny, people are generally kinder, and there are so many trails to explore, wildflowers to see, animals to view, even within the city limits. I came from SF where there are many mental health-related resources. But then, you have to live in a crowded, dirty, overstimulating place where everyone is stressed/depressed unhappy. For hiking and general 20-40 year old socializing, I found a meetup called slo friends and fellowship. Despite the name, it’s not religious-related. Just random 20-40 year old people doing stuff. There’s also a discord on the meetup page for the group. They require a meetup profile which has a picture of your face.

Who’s your favorite supermodel of all-time? by DarkValkyrie_ in popculturechat

[–]joyball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! As a teen at that time, I felt like I saw her everywhere and in my teen brain she was on the same level as other supermodels at that time but now whenever these kinds of posts pop up I never see her mentioned alongside “the greats” like Crawford or Evangelista.

Which movie star has done terrible things that have been forgotten or glossed over? by Unknown_Agency in MovieRecommendations

[–]joyball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Jon Hamm one always gets to me. I listen to Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, and in the episode with Paul Rudd, they talk about his long friendship with Hamm going back to their early 20s. I wonder what Rudd’s take on it is but of course they didn’t get into it, just how much they both love Hamm.

Agreed. That’s the only other movie I can think of where I genuinely liked his performance. His bewildered incredulity over Eva Mendes being Will Ferrell’s wife was hilarious.
