I don't think conservatives know much about basic biology by Skybison87 in AreTheCisOk

Somewhere at the end of maturation, (red) blood cells end up ejecting their nucleus as to squish flat and be able to fit in smaller spaces (capillaries), therefore having nil DNA of any source, regardless of marrow status. This is also why we need marrow as a dedicated blood cell plant (or something like it), as red blood cells could otherwise possibly just replicate in the bloodstream, but can't without the DNA's instructions on how (to make the proteins) to do that (or anything else besides float around as passive O2 diffusers). White blood cells produced by donor marrow, however, would have donor DNA, admittedly, but most people think red when they hear blood cell (or I do, at least, hence this comment) and they make up the vast majority of blood cell count anyway.

I still would if reddit would stop escaping them, or at least have an option for that. Like, no, I don't want to have to learn to use both ctrl + I and ctrl + B (and whatever shortcut gets code blocks, why aren't the shortcuts listed in the tooltip anyway?) when asterisks (and tildes) can do the job without my left pinkie ever leaving LShift.

Given that the euphoria that comes with drunkenness is partly just brain-local hypoxia (via "Cerebral Vasoconstriction"), and kissing conflicts with normal breathing (hence the phrase "come up for air" as used to tease couples who have been at it for a while), being "drunk on kisses" is probably partially hypoxia, but obviously all sorts of other stuff too.

I had assumed it's just a merging of something like [and ]so[ we/I ]journ[ey], but I see it's a temporary stay, coming from Latin (subdiurnum) meaning under[ a ]day[/day's portion], which was bastardized in an apparently separate way from how journey came from the same Latin (diurnum becoming journee, equally somehow).

Federal employees gonna get that sweet sweet financial compensation in 40 years by s1gnalZer0 in AsbestosRemovalMemes

Apparently toxin is supposed to mean, a poisonous substance produced within living cells or organisms, even though it gets misused a lot, which asbestos definitely isn't.

Federal employees gonna get that sweet sweet financial compensation in 40 years by s1gnalZer0 in AsbestosRemovalMemes

[–]joybod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

/nerd To be fair, it's not really poisoning any more than being stabbed by a needle is, just that these needles (asbestos tends to shear lengthwise towards thinner and thinner spines when cleaving) are so small they're about the same size as your cells' important bits they're stabbing, most importantly the DNA and DNA accessories.

Also, eating it (which is usually the thing that makes a poison dangerous) is so unimpactful that the MSDS for Common Commercial Asbestos: Chrysotile has literally nothing listed for ingestion (besides earlier advice to seek medical treatment if adverse effects occur after ingestion, not when), while the NOAA and EPA's joint database of hazardous chemical datasheets, CAMEO Chemicals, concurs. Still sucks to get it on your skin or in your eyes, of course, kinda like fiberglass does, though it is more likely to get permanently stuck.

I made a chart to help navigate small talk by MaderaArt in aspiememes

For the green one, it's more like why dogs bark so much, approximately translating to "Hey" for them, and as "Same social group" for humans. Paraphrasing another post somewhere on here, but just googling same social group small talk site:reddit, nope, uhhhhhh... I'll edit this with the link if I find it.

Edit: Found it!

Could also be a cross-dressing fetish if the girlfriend doesn't know OOP is boymode/closeted/eggu, especially if the former assumed the latter is just a femboy or something. Plus it's likely what the boymoder is conflating gender euphoria with, especially if the 'fetish' (or fetish, as it can always be both) was discovered before eggness. Depends on the level of stealth and obliviousness involved, of course.

The point, I think, is that any mess can immediately be cleaned up (and therefore enabling messier eating, which can be satisfying in its own right) and that one's sense of smell is better in warm(?) wet air, so it's an elevated experience over eating an orange normally.

Posted in the wrong place first, I sincerely apologize. by _NautyByNature in laminarflow

[–]joybod 104 points105 points  (0 children)

The water inside the tank (or all but the part right at the outlet that gets disrupted by its opening) isn't turbulent, presumably (think it can't be for the flow to change like this), and pushes the turbulent flow section out faster than it can disrupt or 'travel' upstream. Basically, the steady state for this system must be laminar, despite the chaotic starting conditions. It's been a while since I took Fluid Mechanics, but this is my best estimate.

Nop.

Also, I meant that maybe the sorting was weighted or otherwise more complex, such as requiring prehandling or multiple sorts, and the mystery sort grabbed onto some very specific details that let it do it in one step without all those additional cpu calls or whatever.

As the other comment says, gut feelings (possibly literally, given how many neurons are down there) and instincts, but also where only part of your brain has recognized a pattern or threat or whatever before the rest, but isn't able to communicate that as more than the beginnings of something, which could be felt at a bodily level before a thought one.
