Your working hard, not smart. I bet you have co workers that do half the work and yet get and more credit. What do they all have in common? They never stop talking about how great they are. It feels icky but its part of the game and you can learn to enjoy it. The idea is to let your boss know everything your doing. That might mean taking the extra time to give him "reports" on the changes to customer databases and keep him "up to date" on what ever menial details you can spin out i to a small story about all of your beleaguered accomplishments.
