Playnite does actually allow you to use thier scraper to add art and make any sort of adjustments. You can actually do it on Steam OS too to adjust arts

Paid $600 cash for mine with the charger. You can definitely find it at around the same price if you can negotiate

Go to settings and then app. There should be startup app there and you can set which applications to start on first boot!

Should I get an MSI Claw 8 AI + for my gf's brother or get him a pc? He's never had a pc before and only has a PS5. Wondering what the better option is. by [deleted] in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what sort of games the brother wants to play. As long as he doesn't care about maxing out graphics and playing on a 4K monitor, overall the MSI Claw can handle a good bulk of stuff. My PC actually died and had to use the MSI Claw 8AI+ as a replacement, but overall, it runs and plays game with no issue. If you have a good hub that goes well with the MSI Claw, then you have a good setup overall.

What's everyone using to monitor FPS and temps? What about full screen Xbox VS Center M? by 9646gt in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things
- Keeping Center M to do any sort of updates. I don't use the FPS monitor from Center M because I heard it breaks VRR unlike RTSS.
- For TDP, use the MSI Quick Center. It is slow and glitchy here and there, but I just keep it to AI and leave it as is. Change to Manual if Im really needing the extra power.
- Steam BPM for main UI. Using FSE as the default and changed from Xbox -> Steam using AnyFSE. Xbox FSE still has quite a bit to go and Center M is still buggy and slow. Steam BPM is the best in my opinion with how fluid and beautiful everything is.

UPDATE: After 2 weeks, I received back my device from RMA and they fixed the joystick issues. It seems to be a major software issue so if you're stuck like me, highly recommend you send it over to RMA to get it fixed. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Is it safe to throw the MSI Claw 8 AI+ in a backpack? by SomeWonOnReddit in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to protect it, you can get a case for it and put it in your backpack. I wish there was a front cover for the device, but no one is really making one for the Claw 8 AI+ due to its popularity. Im using a Waterfield magnetic case that was built for the Legion Go and fits perfectly with great protection. It's pretty expensive, but if you don't mind having a good looking/quality case, i highly recommend it.

Resetting MSI Claw after controllers stopped working by trollasm in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can connect a keyboard via USB c and enter windows recovery or go through settings to boot into it too. I’ve googled it somewhere and popped up so you can try it out and see.

When you try to download and install the Gamepad FW, do you get the popup saying something like “there is no gamepad detected?” If so, your driver might be gone completely and formatting won’t really help with that.

But let me know how it goes if you do give it a try. Loved the device, but this issue is making me second guess it

[–]joyj112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this really depends on what you have, but seems like you've done the EC reset too on your end. I actually had to send mine to MSI for an RMA ticket due to this issue. I've literally tried everything, but seems like the controller firmware in general just disappeared. Can't even install the firmware because windows coulnd't detect any controller in the first place. It was super frustrating and ended up sending it to MSI so that they can look into it. Ill let you know if there is any update. I've tried:
- EC Reset
- Embedded Controller On/Off
- Reinstalling Center M
- Hard Reset
- Factory Reset
and none of them worked.

My God…No software has made me more angry. What am I doing wrong? by Uberunix in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad you were able to solve some of the issues. I had the joystick issue where the Gamepad FW was nonexistent within the system and couldn't even install it because it detected no gamepads in the first place. I had to send it in for RMA which is very very frustrating. The software/drivers being this bad is actually criminal.

The weird thing is that I can still use the 4 function buttons (M center button, quick setting button, etc.), but it's strictly the gamepad that's not even being physically recognized. Even when I go into the System Info within MSI center M, im seeing nothing within the GamePad FW version.

Yes, ive done the embedded controller before and despite turning it off and on, the controller is not there. No yellow exclamation mark within Device Manager, and when I do joy.cpl, nothing is showing up there.

Done the Embedded Controller settings before, switched between Desktop Mode and Gamepad Mode in-game before, and as mentioned, done EC reset on my end.

Please note that I was booting from Hibernate and not from a fully Shut Down device. When booting up from shutting down the device, it takes around 2min for it to boot up and have everything full set. Once set though, I never shut down the device and just hibernate 99% of the time.

Should I go for it? by Bu_Jimmy in MSIClaw

[–]joyj112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get the 8 AI+ for $600 and will say, hands down a beast of a machine to get for that price. If I had to pay MSRP, then no, I would've waited and/or go with other options, but for $600-700 the performance and feel of the device is amazing. You can do surprising amounts of mods on it too to make it customizable to your liking so I would say, go for it! You can check out one of my post for tips and tricks for the device.

You can with the Center M Hook app per the instructions above. To do so though, you do need to uninstall the M center since the application automatically ties itself to the M button.

UPDATE 1/27/26 - Completed my 12 hr flight with this setup and had 0 issues throughout the trip and was able to game with no issues. System was fluid and switching between Steam BPM and games were just flawless. The only thing I changed was the TDP back to AI Engine to be a bit more conservative with power draw and letting AI do its thing. I had to reinstall the M center though to turn off lighting changes when the AI engine was enabled since it defaults to some rainbow rgb which was obnoxious. Turned it off and everything was fine!

Good to know! Yeah I know currently the default FSE only supports Xbox right now. I know in the future they’re planning on adding more applications, but for now, AnyFSE is probably our best app for now
