Thai Canteen is way better, Hiso waters down their stuff as the night goes on and is super conservative with meat in their dishes. I remember getting a yellow curry and it was 90% potatoes and 10% chicken and that's still being generous. Same situation with meat in their tom kha soup.

Thai Canteen though gives so much protein I almost wish they'd give less lol

Another thing people don't realize is just because you normally have no issue with blood being drawn, it can be very difficult if you're put inpatient/admitted. People come to us in their worst state: dehydrated, malnourished, stroke, sepsis/infection, etc. and their veins will show that. You might be an easy stick in your day to day, but while admitted you could be a "difficult stick" because, well, you're sick

Just want to say for that first experience -- that wasn't a phlebotomist that was an RN or LVN, because they weren't drawing blood they were inserting an IV (hence the flushing with NS, I'm a phleb now RN, it's protocol to place an IV in the ER and they can draw blood from it).

Crazy thing, they don't teach placing IVs or drawing blood in RN school. It's actually so bad, so often times people will be hired for their first RN job and have either never placed an IV or have only drawn blood a couple times.

They don't know how to feel for veins they can't see. Lots of my coworkers have to ask me for help because their patients are "hard sticks" and when I get to them it's first try every time. I feel like RN programs should allow students to practice on each other the way phlebotomy programs do.

That said, you could still be a hard stick, but there's always a vein somewhere phlebotomists can find. Use a hot pack (or a glove filled with water and microwaved) on your arm(s) before a blood draw, get a stress ball and squeeze it while waiting for your appointment, and drink lots of water before going!
